Ethaniscool Introduction Thread.
Hi guys, New here so I figured I may as well say Hi.
My name is Ethan and Im just starting my Rotary miata build.
So a little background. My dream car when I was little was always a miata.
So my first car had to be one. After working for two summers I finally had enough to get one. That car was very short lived as I was rear ended. But It took me about a week to get another. This car was everything to me.
After buying wheels and coils I knew this was the car for me.
I did everything with the car but I really really loved drifting.
So thats what I did. TO summarize I basically took everything out of the car that wasn't needed to drift, BUT at the same time keeping things simple. So no AC, NO Power steering, Added a ARC intake chamber, Polly bushings all around. My car was a 1.6 so if any of you are familiar with them you know that the diffs and cranks are rather weak. So I had a full 1.8L miata rear end swap that was welded of that skid racer feel, added a swaybar upfront, and ended up needing to replace the motor with a newwer 1.6 because I got crank wobble. The car stayed like this for a number of years and I just enjoyed it.

Rather then take it as baby. I desided, hell lets make some dreams become a reality. So I got on the phone and had a deal struck for a 1993 Miata Le, a limited edition that everyone regards as the best of the 1.6L miatas. Ac/Ps Abs. Bilstein Suspention, Hardtop, BBS wheels and the limited red leather interior.
It was always my dream miata. It was in Bad shape but hell, can't go wrong with a great price.
Me and a budy took his 260Z on the long drive to North Alabama.
Gotta get the lady hardstylin.

I miss her bad.
Now this brings me to my current situation.
A budy told me about a old spec miata shell that someone was giving away. So what did I do? Scooped it up! I figure my dream was always to have a rotary miata. After hearing the 787B on grand turismo when I was younger and watching rx7's and rx8's on youtube for years I felt it was time to make it happen.
So i got the shell, and just started getting parts.
I sold the motor to a friend and used to for parts.
Then this came in.
Next was a V8 roadsters tube subframe, so we can mount everything. Damn thing is only 25 pounds.
Fantastic build quality.
But this is where I am Currently. I should have a s5 T2 harness that was merged with a miata harness and I'll be running a AP engineering, Apex I power FC with a GM 3bar map sensor. Have someone who did the swap before and is now parting out so it took all the monkey work out for me.
For the mounting I'll be using a Miata transmission with FC bellhousing and shorting the input shaft to the engine. I already have a 1.8L miata rear end and I don't plant to go much higher then 250hp as I want the setup to be reliable and I really dont want to make transmissions and rearends consumables.
