NC 28311 checking in

Hello all I am Travis from Fayetteville, NC. I happen to be the lucky 4th owner of a 88 RX7 SE. I am new to rotary but not new on the block currently owning a decent
stable consisting of a 06 Cobalt LS(non factory force-inducted) supercharged on 16 lbs which should be running a 13.6 with no traction aids when I am done
tuning it, a 92 Accord LX gutted-n-caged pulling .99~1.01G on the dry 100ft skid pad, an 89 S15 lifted and snorkeled with a vortec OBD2 4.3L and 32's.

Anyways, the RX7 as I said is a 1988 SE, I would consider it in amazing condition for sitting in a junkyard since the end of 08. The car was complete except for
exhaust(the junkyard cut out the cat but cut the header and catback to remove it) and wheels, it has a dent in the passenger fender and a dent in the passenger
door. The car is completely stock except for a short shifter even though it has the stock shift ****.

My plans after I get the title and whatever repair work she needs are dual Weber carbs(the racing beat kit), a FB dizzy, relocated battery, fuel cell with external low
pressure pump, paint(57 Chevy turquoise), custom header(I will be making my own true duals exiting just behind the front tire), welded diff, coilovers, sway bars,
racing seat and 5 point(driver), and strut tower bars. I haven't done enough research to know what brands are the best for my application I plan on drifting
this car and occasionally hitting some curvy roads.

On to the pics:

How she looked when I first met her:

After we put some shoes on her to let her limp onto the flatbed:

The day she came to her new home:

How she is sitting now:

Hi Travis, welcome to RX-7 CLUB. Looks like you saved that one just in time. Glad you have some plans for the car. Duel Webers is one of my favorite setups. Good luck with everything. Hope you find this forum very helpful with your RX-7 project.

Thank you Robert, so far for lurking a few months before I finally signed on I have already learned a wealth of knowledge on this car and I don't think I have even scratched the surface yet... Now I just need to get the capital up to actually do something with it.

BTW, is there anyone who can walk me through getting the title since the RX7 was sold as a parts car? I have all the information from the previous owners down to oil change records.

Your best bet may be to talk to some other guys in NC. Maybe post a new thread in the NC local section. Some guys may have already gone through the process and know what to do. I'm sure someone there can help ya out.
Good luck,
-Robert, SuperMod.

So she lives!!!!!
Only thing wrong with her was the main 80 amp fuse under the hood and she purrs like a kitten. Drove 7.5 miles Wed. and she loved it... was suprised but she ran on 4 year old gas and just needed the clutch bled and ran on the 5th crank... Why would someone put this car in a junkyard to rot away is beyond me...

On to the pics:

Wow, that's awesome when small things get you fixed and running. I know what you mean, people throw away things that can be fixed. I think a lot of people feel rotaries are disposable because there are very few places for service on them. That's a great score for you though. Looks like it's in pretty good shape and you have it running already. Welcome to the rotary world. You're going to love it.

Thanks man, I am just ecstatic she is alive, we changed the fuse and I sat down it it and told
my buddy,"That can't be it she was in the jy for a reason..." I put the key in and turned it to
on and the radio started blaring static(radio hadn't worked before), turned it of, fuel pump
primed along with the mast going up... Pushed in the clutch and turned... first crank was slow,
second and third steadily got faster, spuddered on 4 and growled on 5. She sat at 3k on initial
start up and had tons of white smoke billowing out, I went ape **** to listen to her running
and my buddy and I thought there may be vacuum leaks... Then after filling the yard with
smoke and growling for about 5 minutes she dropped to 1500 and the smoke started clearing,
walked in the house to get a drink and when I came back out she was sitting around 800rpm.
no smoke. Drove her around the block, then up to a gas station, then a few more laps around
the block, letting her rest at idol for about 10-20 minutes between drives. Night fell and took
her up for some glamour shots about 2 miles away from the house and she cranked right up
and purred.
