CA 1993 fd r1 —> ls1

Hey everyone! Just purchased a 93 FD pretty much bone stock with a few engine mods. Unfortunately age is catching up with the 13B and the apex seals, oil scrapper...etc have gone bad. I will be putting in an LS1 (booo) and will eventually starts build thread for all the progress. I do have an insta (not sure if I’m allowed to put it here), but if you wanna see some pics don’t hesitate to shoot me a PM

Terrible! Wrong engine.

Should go with LS3 at least. LS7 preferably. LS1 is so weak.

LS1 under the right mods and tune can throw out over 400 horse for under $2500. I’m not made of money, so the power to price ratio on these engines are about as good as it gets. Even the good ol’ iron block under $1000 can put out extremely good numbers on a pinched budget.

All money aside LS3 is the way to go tho if in the LS family (outside the LS7)...

Can't beat the LS1 on a medium budget. I think I had my LS FC going for less than most LS3/LS7 motors go for.

Ls3 engine combo are starting to drop in price. It's a great engine if you're not on a budget. But Im happy with my build ls2.

Agreed. LS1's from anyone selling pullouts are still pretty overpriced, they're saved by virtue of the occasional wrecked 6-speed FBody. I got mine for $2500, sold the shell for $400 and the worn out t56 for $1100. In the end I had an alum 5.7 w/ ls6 intake for the price of a junkyard 6.0.

Ack, are you actually considering putting an LS into a CYM? Horrible idea IMO, here's one vote for 'Stay Rotary!'

What part of SoCal are you in?
