13B Triumph Spitfire
Hey everyone,
My name is Link and I work as a restoration technician for a shop out here in the PNW. I've been mechanic for over 20 years spending most my childhood under a hood instead of glued to a TV lol I've been working on this project car with my father in law for a couple years and we are nearing the end of our battle. Right now we just developed a knock under load through the whole rpm range. It sounds more ignition related to me as I know he was mixing gas for a little bit because he didn't think the oilers were working. So maybe fouled plugs. We are getting some NGK's in the next day or two.
I'm hoping it's not a bearing noise that we are hearing. We have had some problems with the guy we got the motor from and don't fully trust the thing. We are prepared to open this thing up and rebuild it if we need to though. Just want to get an idea from people who are use to these motors. I'll post in other groups too since this is just a" introduce yourself" thread lol

Welcome to the board, Link.
It sounds like a nice little project. Glad you're in the "light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel"-phase of things. It would help to get a few more details about your setup. Is it carbureted, if so which one? Most importantly, what are you running for ignition? Have you checked and confirmed the correct timing for your setup? Which plugs are you using? That sort of thing ....
What you can do is post all of that info in the New Member Technical forum, in a formal thread on your issues and we'll see if you can get the answers you need.

Welcome man, my dad has a 72(?) Spitfire that he picked up for my mom as a builder. Over the months I've sent him some links for turbo 13B swaps and SR20 swaps. Curious to see how you've mounted yours and what all was necessary for the swap. Looking forward to seeing your posts on the topic in the future. Sounds like a dope project, is it stick or auto?
