My names Derek. I just joined this for to obtain some knowledge of these types of cars. Currently I am not an owner of an rx-7 but will soon be in the market for one as I just got a new job that will allow me to afford one. The first type of car I owned was a supercharged cobalt and I was hooked on the Ecotec Platform. Later before I knew what I was doing the car needed a timing chain and the mechanic I took it too messed up the job and being an interference engine it bent all the intake valved. Long story short i was forced to sell the car dirt cheap. After that I decided to get my associates and bought me a new Cobalt. A 2009 Turbo Sedan. They only made 494 Turbo Sedans in the States so it was a lucky find. After having fun with it for 3 years now I'm ready to get another project. So thats my story, hope to learn alot! btw here is the Current Cobalt.
I suppose we all can't be perfect ... you and your Bowties and GM Ecotecs. Boo! (insert scowling face here). I'm just joshing you. I really have no judgment about things like that. Diversity is a good thing and, honestly, your car is not bad-looking.
Anyway, as I said, welcome. Thank you for sharing your history and I think you made a great choice by becoming a member of the wonderful community.
Welcome from another STL guy, I'm just as new to Mazda as you are it sounds like. Beautiful car, for a cobalt. What area of the Lou are you from? Haven't been super active in the late model scene lately, hopin' to change that next year as I'll likely have a couple projects up and running.
