Grassroots MotorSports rotary Spitfire

Anyone else read the article in the August issue of Grassroots Motorsports? Anyone know what kind of porting are they running on that engine? They achieved 193 RWHP on a streetable N/A 13B running a TEC-3 EMS ($$$).

The Ro-Spit project has been going on now for about 5 years I think. The 13B was Street-ported by Tri-point.

Check the GRM site for back issues - lots of good info if your into doing motor swaps.

A buddy of mine is building a Triumph Spitfire in Denver, CO. It will be running a 13BT 4-port w/ a Turbonetics 60-1. Here's a link to some of the pictures:

Sumthin like 147 ft lbs of toque too.
Even with a 20% driveline loss that is:
231.6 hp
176.4 ft lbs

you also got to realize that a spitfire, at least a 64, weighs 1600 lbs. thats around a thousand lighter. so horse power to the rear wheels should be greater. i saw the ro-spit a few years ago. WILL HAVE ONE . got a 64 spit now, talked my wife into a rotary cause " it will be cheaper to build than the stock engine" she went for it. so now that my engine will be done next week, i've gotta start working on the damn spit.(would rather be driving my rx-7 though).

Weight does not change the Hp at the rear wheels. It will change your Power/weight ratio.

The intake is for a DCOE carb and has a TWM throttle body mounted to it.

You can get a subscription, and have the nice postal carrier bring it to your door. Find them online, and sign up.
