What kind of speakers you think?

So its time to pick out rear tower speakers for my turbo2.
i know i dont want 8 inch woofers shoved in there, i want a piece that has GOOD power, and can handle being pumped with good highs and mids.

i pretty much wanna know whats the best speaker i can fit in the rear towers that i wont have to take out a loan for.

i have been checking out crutchfield.com...there are just to many selections for the 6 1/2'', even the 6 3/4".

thanks for any ideas.

get some cadence they are crisp clear and nice. check out MA audio or infinity's check e-bay or your local stores someone always throws a deal out there and now because of x-mas. And cruthfeild is WAY over priced.

I dont know the size of the speakers in the door panels, you can refer to a cruthfeild magazine and it should be able to tell you, if not measure the ones in there.
Jeff
im guessing they would be 5.25 or 6.25

Take a look at MBQuart 6.5 coax speakers. Fantastic tweeter dispersion and good overall frequency range.

Don't put co-ax in the rear ... having tweet coming from behind takes away a LOT from the soundstage. Just get a good mid-range/mid-bass speaker. Seal the little comparment that it goes in and fill it with polyfill.

I'd reccomend a pair of CDT 6.5" mid-bass. Those have more punch than any 6.5" I've ever heard. I can't get over how good my CDT-642DT component set sounds. Come to think of it, just get the same set. Stick the 6.5" in back, then put the 4" in the dash, and the tweet on the dash as far out on the corners as possible.

But whatever you do, don't put full-range speakers in the rear.

Here are a couple of places I have purchased from and can recommend. They both have great prices and service.

Get some Boston's or MBQuarts if you want really high end, get Polk's or Infinity's if you want good middle priced stuff.

My Friend has Kicker's in his truck and Trans Am Impulse series in the truck and Resolutions for the TA. They both have been misteaken for higher end speakers on several occations. I went with the Impulse line personally. Now If I can just find time to put them in.

Infinity perfect 6.1 component set will fit nicely in the doors. They run around $549.00 retail but you can pick some up for around 300.00 or so online. They sounds really nice.

Trust me, you will love CDT's ...

To buy them new either goto:

www.thezeb.com
www.mmexpress.com
www.sounddomain.com

Or to buy them used goto the Cool Classifieds section of the SoundDomain forum

forum.sounddomain.com

The 642DT component set sells retail for around $500-$550, but you see them on the forum for about $300. I'd put them up against anything under $500, even Focal or Dynaudio in that price range.
