The hard part for me is keeping it clean afterwards.

Well, I can recommend that you NOT use the Black Magic Engine Cleaner. It does clean really well but it fckn stinks. After a week of using it I can still smell it. For the first couple of days after using it, my wife and I could smell it inside our house when the car was parked in the garage. Almost made us both puke. And YES, I thoroughly washed the engine with water after using the stuff but it was apparently pooling in places on top of the engine. Again, don't recommend using Black Magic. I have used the FOAMY Gunk engine cleaner in the past with great success. The non foamy one is about 1/10 as good as the foamy one IMO.

s-100 motorcyle cleaner if its not too bad, and purple power degreaser if its a mess. Make sure you rinse well to get it all off though. Best to follow up with a soft long bristle paint brush to get it all rinsed off

If I have an oily mess Castrol Super Clean and a scrub brush. I use carb cleaner to get greasy fingerprints off the cast aluminum parts and for general underhood cleaning and touch up I use wheel cleaner that is safe for all surfaces.

That castrol super clean is a very good degreaser. They make an off brand that looks identical to the Castrol stuff it just doesn't say Castrol. That is what I used and it works wonders. Try Mean Green if you can, that works awesome too. I do recommend the Castrol stuff. It comes in a purple bottle. The off brand stuff is a little cheaper and works just as good.
