Too Tacky?
Too Tacky?
I’ve been working on my ‘86 Sport for a few years and since it’s on jack stands, I started looking at the wheels. The chrome is peeling and they look pretty nasty.
I can’t afford to have them re-chromed so, I decided to clean them up, sand the rim of the wheels and paint them.
My plan is to complete the under side this winter and have it painted next spring.
I’m going to have it shot the original A1 gold satin metallic.
Think I should re-consider the gold accent? Alternate ideas welcome.

And since you asked, if it were me, i’d do them a solid color. Probably something close to the stock finish. Theyre stock wheels that look ok on the car, no need to pretty them up.

I would just get in there with some elbow grease and some polish and clean them up. You’ll be amazed at how nice they’ll clean up. Watch some YouTube videos on the proper technique and it’s pretty simple. Just takes time.
Id hold off repainting or rechroming the wheels until the car is resprayed. My .02
