Suggestions For a New Deck????
Well, my 85 RX-7 GS needs a new stereo. I'm gonna start buy adding a new deck.
Now, I need suggestions on what to buy.
I'm not making this a competition stereo by any means, but I do like quality sound.
I also like a clean look, so if I need a dash kit it would have to fit flush and look good.
I'm currently looking at the Clarion ADB340MP 2 DIN deck. Specs: http://www.clarioncanada.com/en/prod.../ADB340MP.html
I'm not installing subs, and don't plan to in the future either.
I would like to get something that fills the dash perfectly.
I also have a few questions:
1. Will I need to modify the stereo surround width wise, or is that hole actually the generic size like all the new cars have as far as width goes. I know it is 2 din though.
2. If I decide to go with a 1 din deck, where can I find a decent dash kit? Or do I have to make my own?
3. Will that 2 din Clarion mentioned above fit into the dash perfectly?
I like Clarion stuff, and I know the local dealer here really well as well.
I'm planning on upgrading the speakers as well to some Alpines.
So, please help me out, and if you have any pics with a 2 din deck installed, or how a 1 din deck looks, please post them up!!
Thanks a million guys!

Those decks are for domestics I think. That is massive!
If you've got the scratch, go for this McIntosh unit. It's got classic style to mesh with your FB.

Anytime baby!
i SECOND the Nakamichi head unit...I have a CD-45 I think...but they have newer models that support MP3's.....
I searched long and heard, and you give a damn about sound quality and couldn't care less about having a blue ricer animation on your deck, get a Nak. It sounds very, very clean with my PPI amp and some cheap Infinity speakers in the back and some nice Boston components in the front. And it was the only unit I could find that has a decent amber color to match the FB.
It's simple to use, it doesn't say "hello" or any bs. Just displays the track number and time. Bass, mid, treble. What else do you really need?
I custom fabbed a piece of plexi to deal with the 2.5 DIN space. Looks good.
Right on.

it has rca aux ins, so you just need a 1/8" to rca cable and your ipod and nak will be making music easy. i did the exact same thing, except i dont have an ipod, yet.

I have owned the Alpine 9815 for a little over 2 years it works great, has a nice quick search feature with 2 line display for mp3's and works great with the KCA420i iPod adaptor.
I'm waiting for the new Alpine 9855 to hit the stores, nice biolite display and better ipod intergration!
