stupid shift boot question. pls help

stupid shift boot question. pls help

hey guys i know that this is prob a stupid question but i just installed a rx8 shift **** in my fd and the shift boot doesnt stay up high enough now so it shows some of the metal shifter and its drivin me nuts. someone PLEASE help so i can get this taken care of quick. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks

I would mark the metal where the bottom of the **** is, then take off the **** and wrap tape until it keeps the top of the boot from sliding down.

or take the shifter off and turn the boot inside out, then use a zip tie or wire tie and tie the shifter to the desired height...then let it fold down over.

Same idea thats used with the ebrake

I took some of the rubber hosing off of the air pump silencers and cut it to about 4" long to fit around the shifter so it's about 3/4" thicker and holds the boot up. I did the tape thing for a while too but this is less "permanent" but ehh it all works. Ghetto rig that thing however you can without cutting the actuall **** or shifter.

tape worked great and took about 3 and a half minutes!!! ill post pics tom or monday. thanks again for the help guys!
