Static at Mid-Higher volumes

This isn't about my 7, but about a friends car I was working on, so if this shouldn't be discussed here, then Mr. Mod please move it.

Anyway, I've installed a few car stereos in my days including my 7 and haven't run across this problem. My friend drives a 93 Hyundia Excel (piece of ****). I got the stereo installed just right, even soldered all the wires correctly. Turned the stereo on and it plays fine, crystal clear, but when we turn the stereo up just a little bit we get this awful scratchy static that gets progressively worse as the sound goes up.

I searched and found this:

Think it would be the ground? I do Remember soldering up a black ground wire, but could there be more?

I second the ground; check that out. How high is the volume turned up before you get this "static"? If it's cranked, it could be distortion.

No deffinatly no distortion, it sounds more like a blown speaker, but they did not do this before, with the old tape deck. Its actually not very loud at all before the static comes in, i guess i should have said low-mid volume.

I took the head unti back out today and checked all the wiring, everything is ok. I attached another ground wire to the back of the head unit, but it still gives off the static, its very annoy.

Does anyone have any ideas, because I'm fresh out.

Try another deck. Maybe the internal amp is shot. That what it sounds like to me.
