The speakers are still Bose, I'm going to switch to something else, haven't decided on a brand yet. I do have a cool idea for the sub enclosure. I want to build a rotor out of plexiglass add mirror tint to the back and light it with leds. It will surround a JL audio 12w7 and be visable thru the hatch. I thought about adding a rotor housing and having the rotor rotate, just an idea. The amp rack, I'm thinking will be installed under the rear tower brace and have a veiwing window in the front cover over the storage bins. I've already relocated the battery to the passenger side storage bin. I installed a Kinetik 2000, weighs a ton, it's for audio competitions. The wires going from the battery to the engine bay are 1/0ga. with Streetwires connectors. 300ma fuse in line as well. I've got some pics I'll try to find.

JL audio 12w7 is a very nice sub. Maybe you should get their 6.5" three Way set and amps and just have all JL audio ? Wish I could but I can only afford no name stuff. I got MaxFidelity tweeters and Adire Extremis6.4 with home made crossovers and an Avionixx800/2 amp.

May I ask two more questions of you ? Will sound deadening a single hinge door be different than a normal door ? Is there a cheaper way to cover a dash like yours but maybe in wood grain ?

There are wood dash kits for the 3rd gen, I saw one and it doesn't look that bad. Google around for one, they are cheaper than what I had done by far. If you were talented with an airbrush, you could paint a wood grained look to your trim pieces.
I don't think the hinge matters as much as getting the doors to seal properly. The GT Factory hinges are very solid and have no play.

It looks like you've thought out the project pretty thoroughly ..and more importantly, you've actually COMPLETED the mods. Whether some ppl like the doors or not doesn't matter. It aint their car, and some of us actually appreciate your showing us what's possible on the FD.

Doors that actually open to 90 degrees (!!) actually help a lot if you're ever in a tight spot (um, which is about 90% of the time in San Francisco) .. and that you can still open the doors as normal is cool too, again, if you don't want to attract the wrong attention.

Let the haters be haters.

Thanks for the compliments guys, be sure and check out my other thread in the n.w. section under (my fd build) for whats going into the engine bay plus a lot more pics of the door hinge install. I appreciate your feedback and feel free to add any ideas you have that I could use. My goal with the car is to show it and drive it to club meets. Show and go, thats my plan.

Here's a few more pics. I did the battery relocation myself, made the cover out of 1/4" plastic and added leds. The Streetwires stuff I picked up from Car Toys. 1/0 ga wires and 4awg from the distibution block. I latter changed the battery from an Optima yellow top to a Kinetik 2000. Much more battery. I just picked up my JL audio 10w7, what a monster! And here's some shots of the Kyb quick release hub.

The Veilside kit came with the car when I bought it. And here's a preview of whats to come after I finish my engine bay project.
