Exclamation Saved at 110 MPH By Radar ! GET THIS!

This is called a Valentine Radar Detector. I can seriously dectec a pig miles away, ive had bike cops hit the laser it points in the direction of the signal, and i dont see em for atleast 2 miles down the road. It will point left right or from front or back. Its quite expensive i paid $300 for mine. Does X band, Laster, K Band, KA Band, everything cops use, ive never gotten a ticket and i drive like a wild man. Ive tried EVERY other top brand detector and this one tops it. I love going 80 in a 40, and it points behind me and goes off, 10 min later a cop rolls up and im doin 40 ! It also shows how strong the signal is, wich is very very acurate. What also gets me is people who put there radar on the bottom of the dash?? how the hell can it pickup signal good down there. I got pics here to show mine, i got it so the wires are exposed and it mounted up by the rear view mirror.

I don't think you'll find may people who are impressed with someone doing 80 in a 40. The first time you run over something unexpected (hopefully not a person) you'll understand why.

two things...

First off, Purple, I totally agree with you... it's not fun to hit (or avoid) something at high speeds... without going into a long story, I was doing 55 in a 40, at night, saw a dog in the road (alive) so I swirved to avoid it, started to skid (this was before my RX-7) swirved back the other direction to try to get back into my lane (and by this time the dog had bolted) and smashed my car against a cement wall. It was not fun.

As for the 2nd thing, this seems more like an advertisment rather than "a radar detector saved my butt, and here's a link for it." Personally, all the pictures of this very commonly known RD is too much for this thread... 'specially since it's a generic car issue and not necessarily an RX-7 issue (regardles of the generation.)

Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

I hate to sound like an old man, or call someone out in a forum - but comments like your's ...

When the cop scrapes you off the pavement and helps the remaining parts of you get the hospital, that will explain the disrespect in calling him a "pig"...

80 in a 40? Dude, you should keep that to yourself. It's just plain stupid, and makes you look stupid. I realize people do stupid **** like that - but you won't find many people who'll go "wow, dude, that's so ******* cool!"

I watched a kid get hit on my street by some jackass thinking it was cool to hit the curve outside my house doing 50.

That's why they make tracks, dragstrips, etc. Instead of spending $400 to protect yourself from the people serving to protect us - spend $10 at the track and protect us yourself.

I think we are all been guilty for speeding..... most of us drive over the speed limit anyway!...... sometimes 90mph on a 65....

I think this is a cool item to have.... specially when youre about to get ticketted for going 60 on a 55.

I have a detector. It cost $40. It scans in all directions. It doesn't have fancey whistles, lights, and send ins, but I don't go doing 80 in a 40 zone. That's just stupid. 40 zones are usually like that because of good reasons, including heavy traffic, pedestrians, stuff like that. Going twice that speed limit is stupid, and dangerous to yourself and everyone else.
The ONLY time I speed is when we hit our race road (the local gas junkies have this out of the way road we race. Limit is 55 until you hit the dirt section). There's never anyone there to get hurt during night, although it is a popular biking path during the day, so, of course, we keep it cool during the day.
That road is the sole reason I have a radar detector. Guess what? Mine does damn near everything yours does (including laser, radar, pulse detection) with the exception of pointing out which direction. It doesn't matter though. No matter what direction they're scanning you from, they're still scanning you. I'm gonna laugh when a cop starts trailing you and using his spedometer to check your speed at night. Hello tickets ville. Your little $300 RD didn't save you from that, did it? Or, how about if RDs are illegal where you are? Ther's another $500+ fine. And then, like people have said, you're either going to hit something(someone) or swerve to avoid it, and end up having the emergency crews scraping your *** off the pavement. Go take a chill pill and race around only when your racing. I don't care if you do it on the track or not. If you aren't on the track, though, you damn well better have a deserted road to race on, becaue I don't wanna have to kick your *** for killing someone I know, 'kay?

I agree completely, 80 in a 40mph zone is nuts in most states and cities...

On the flip side he's from Orlando... Not that 80 in a 40 is okay there, but the Police / Speeding situation on O-Town is seriously out of control.

I grew up in Orlando, where they widened, a 4 lane road @ 45 mph, to 6 Lanes, and dropped the speed to 35 !!!

Orlando and it's surrounding townships especially Winter Springs, Winter Park, and Casselberry, on the North East side of town are especially bad, in dropping speed limits by 10 mph for no other reason other than it's Tuesday and we want to "F" with people.

I recall being in Winter Springs near 419 and they were doing some major construction, I knew a shortcut through a residential area, with kids, so I slowed down, to the 25mph that I knew was posted.
I started getting tailgated by a minivan, so I pushed it to 30, to give myself room ,and not break the law all too much. Well that morning they started swapping out speed signs from 25 to 20mph, for I guess the reason, that there were kids present, and that this road presented it self as a quicker alternative.
The problem was that it wasn't posted (yet), that I saw, nor was there a sign. "New reduced speed !! Warning..." and the new 20 mph signs hadn't gone up. Well to makes things a bit shorter, I got caught as the lead car of 3 by a cop hiding behind a tree on what I thought was private property.
I told him the circumstances, and he said, that's too bad son, slow down next time...

Caused me to go buy a detector and a Jammer, and since I moved from Orlando I've never used it again... and have not gotten a ticket since then either. Since I drive sensibly, and the speed limits in L.A. for the most part are sensible...

I agree on the pacing issue. You'll be caught using that detector as a crutch one day, thinking you're in the clear.

As for the mounting under the dash...why wouldn't it work? You're expecting it to see over hills, around curves, through other cars...why not through your dash? It goes through your window ok, doesn't it?

Well depending on your dash, metal obstructs / reflects radar waves.

You can try to wrap your detector in aluminum foil to protect it from heat too

These old tight-asses have lived through making mistakes that you're talking about jackass...

I have 3 kids who like playing in our front yard. There are some jackass little fucktards (read also teenagers) down the street who think it's fun to come barrelling down the street and take the corner at 45-50... in a 25.

Unless you like the thought of having an irate parent (5'10" 185 lbs, mean as ****) pounding your head into paste, I'd suggest slowing down.

The only ones on this forum who are impressed with 80 in a 40 are the ones who are only old enough to drive RX-7s on Xbox. Anyone with a licence and even half a brain knows it's dangerous and stupid.

Do that in my neighborhood with my kid around, and I will hunt you down, period.

Damn, all this talk by you younger guys is really embarrassing since I'm young also. You're giving young drivers a bad name by doing that 80 in a 40. The only time I ever speed is on the highway and I'm not a reckless dumbass when I do. Grow up guys.
