recommended sub??

i have a 1.2 cu ft sealed enclosure for a 10" sub, my new eclipse sounds like crap in it, in fact the xplod i had in there before sounded better.. but still like crap. i want something new.
powered by US Amps 400X giving 400w RMS and 1200w peak.
fed by an Aiwa head.

okay so if i get a sub rated power handling over what my amp is, is that a good idea? say a 600RMS 2000PK sub for my amp?
right now i have a 450RMS pk / 1300w pk sub and its crappy sounding.

i guess the choices are:
InfinityŽ (10d VQ) Kappa Perfect Variable Q : http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ct+10d+VQ.html
Eclipse SW8000 : http://www.eclipse-web.com/sw8000/sw8200.html
or keep the SW7000 and im actually screwing something up here. : http://www.eclipse-web.com/sw7000/sw7200.html

i am not all knowing of car audio so bear with me plz
thank you

IDQ10D2 V.2 89.4db Dual 2 ohm 50 to 300 13.2mm .30 - .60 ft3 .75 - 1.00 ft3 View
IDQ10D4 V.2 89,9db Dual 4 ohm 50 to 300 13.2mm .35 - .70 ft3 .75 - 1.00 ft3 View
nope.
i had an image dynamic 15" before going to this same amp, it was great. however im working with a much smaller enclosure due to not owning a boat of a car anymore that could house the 15.
the power on their IDQ 10 is just too weak.

Get a JL Audio 10w3 or W6 and cut a hole in the box and put in some flex port tubing and you will be at the correct rms for the Subs and have an enclosure ideal to what they recommend.
I have 2 8w3's in the back of my FD running 150rms each and people swear they are 2 12's. I may be biased but their subs and amps always work well for me and the subs can hadle a lot more power then the rms value they reccommend.

For the wattage, IDQ10 v3..smaller box too. A ID 10 v3 will also work.. IDMAX 10 about right for the box size.. 500-700rms. Anything Image Dynamics feel free to ask. I can answer any question.

okay i reconfigured the eclipse sub to all configurations. dual 2 ohm bridged sounded like crap. dual 4 ohm in stereo sounded like crap (its a dual 4-ohm coil amp). and i even tried a series 8-ohm for the **** of it, lol. returning it, it stinks.

i was thinking http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14953 a type R (Alpine SWR-1022D) good price good sub just what my amp needs???? its $40 less than the eclipse too.. opinions?

question about wiring the type R... so i should get the dual 2-ohm coil sub instead of the 4-ohm one right? because i would be bridging my amp to the sub for 2-ohm... or is wiring the stereo 4-ohm setup on the 4-ohm amp what im looking for.. i have to confirm this before i buy (doubtful on the 4-ohm, not enough thump)...

but if my amp runs @ 2 ohms bridged wouldnt i want a dual 4 ohm sub? the 4 ohm coils run in parallel would leave a 2 ohm load @ the amp correct? if i bridged the 2 2 ohm coils wouldnt i give the amp 1 ohm load (my amp isnt stable at that)?

^^ Very true. Most amps can handle 2ohms stereo but not bridged. Very few can handle down to 1 ohm.

Alpine Type R. I've been very pleased with the performance of both Alpine subs I've owned.

check this site out will show you how to wire the dual 2 ohm to produce 4 ohms to match your amp. dual 2 ohms is the only way to get the 4 ohms with a dual voice coil with just 1 sub

i read your other forum and you said you smelled your sub burning the problem is you probably have you sub wired at 2 ohms while your amp is pushing 4 ohms its very important to have those line up or you will end up blowing it. cant wire it to 8 ohms and expect good sound quality either since they dont match up and if you amp will push it at 8 ohms will be at a lot less power. i would say get a dual 2 ohm subwoofer the alpine should work fine.

I had two JL 10w0s that sounded great no one believed me that they were only two ten until they saw them. They were great until they were stolen.
