Valentine One
Leaps and bounds better than anything out there. For extra protection get a Bearcat BCT-10. It is a police scanner that will go off and warn you if a police officer is near by. It will detect the radio frequency that the cops are using. You set it by what state you are in. It is preprogrammed with all 50 states. Shaped exactly like a radar detector. They no longer make these anymore but if you are interested in it I have one for sale. PM me.
But to answer your question the Valentine one is definately the best out there.

BCT-10/12 can be used by itself.
You can listen into the cops talking, as well as the tow truck guys etc etc.
You are also notified if you are within 3 miles of a cop using a mobile extender (allows them to venture from their cars and still be in contact with the station), this is much better than a radar detector.
In my province all the cop talk is encrypted, but the scanner still screams when I am in close proximity to a highway cop, before my V1 goes off.
Very nice on the highway . but not necessary b/c the v1 is more than adequate. it is just a toy.

VALENTINE 1. Nothing even comes close.
It has save me a good couple hundred Pe$o$.
Today I was saved again by it and another poor soul got nailed. The best feature aside from early detection, is the locator indicator.
Buy one you won't regret it.
Best reason to buy one is "I can't drive 55".

By far the Valentine is the best. Car and Driver puts radar detectors to the test every year and nobody even scores close to Valentine. Besides it is the only radar that tells you which direction the signal is coming from. It saves you a lot of unneeded stress having to look in all directions when the sucker beeps. You see the cop come and then go as predicted by the valentine and then you can resume your speed. You can get one from ValentineOne.com or just do a seach on the web. It may be a little expensive, but it pays for itself by saving you from getting just one ticket. After all, our cars are on the most wanted list next to Porsches and Ferrari's.

You cannot buy this retail, it is only available from Valentine One. You can however pick one used off ebay. I would be careful though, a used one might not be as good. The V1 gets better every upgrade, which they do somewhat frequently

You get what you pay for.
Buy cheap and pay later in speeding fines, points off you drivers license and higher insurance rates.
Buy the best and save the rest.

I heard somewhere that laser had to land on a flat surface of the car in order for it to transmit an accurate laser reading and since the FD is round everywhere laser doesn't really provide an accurate reading. This is just a rumor i heard.
