Far as the steering wheels go.. 99+ RX7 Nardi wheels are the same as Protege wheel, Miata wheels, etc.. The air bags are interchangeable.. I'm currently using Miata Airbag on my 99 wheel..

Only difference in the wheel is the mounting holes.. If you use other wheels, you would need to drill couple of holes in the back..

I used to have a post with pics.. but the links are all dead.. If you want pics, let me know.. I have all the steering wheels made for an FD (except red stitched RZ).. and comparison pics..

 

I've got a Mazdaspeed Protege steering wheel laying around. I changed mine to a Momo Race.
