It really depends on the type of epoxy/resin you are using. There are different types, 99% of which are purely for looks although there are some structural types of epoxy's. Also, different types of fabrics have different temps as well. Unfortunatly CF has one of the worst temp ratings but your car would actually have to be on fire for it to be affected hehe so its kinda a mute point (is this the right terminology?).

What really suprises me that they are able to wrap exhaust canisters with it!

BTW: Keep in mind the limitations of your carbon fiber parts:

1. It's flammable. Carbon Fiber doesn't make a good firewall.

2. It's conductive. Watch out for wires and electrical devices.

3. It's not heat proof. Watch out for hot engine/exhaust parts and maintain a safe distance.

How many folks have had Mark do their CF work lately since this thread?

I like to see some pics and some feedback - both of which I think will be favorable..........
Me. He did my exterior door handle/plates/levers after I had them powder coated twice (the plates) and then chromed (the levers only - I know, I know).

Very good job - I recommend.

ummm, isn't the door handle plastic? or is it metal? I didn't think you could powder coat plastic. I wish i had the extra money to get my pieces carbon wraped, carbon fiber looks so sexy.

In order to chrome plate plastic parts, you have to coat it with special metalized (copper) paint. Very few (relatively) chrome shops do this.

http://www.caswellplating.com/

Look under Plating Kits/Plating Non-Conductive Surfaces

If anybody needs plastic parts (or other non-conductive parts) plated DO NOT USE the 'shop' Caswell Plating that sent/recommended to me (in Colorado).

I endured a 4 month wait (all sorts of excuses from the 'shop' owner), and the end result was a pitted chrome finish and over $100 out of my pocket. (owner insisted on payment by MO, so I was screwed).

I sanded it down and just turned around and sent it off to Mark for CFing.

The plates themselves are some sort of 'pot metal'. I first took it to a local PC place and the end result has ALOT of gas bubbles in the finish. Turns out that the metal used in the plates out-gas ALOT. Had them redo it, but same result.

Got tired of this, so then sent the plates to the guy in Cinncinati that was PCing parts for forum members, and he did a MUCH better job (he had to do them over once due to the out-gassing).

By this time, I figured I might as well have both the plate and the lever CFed.

Sucks to be ****.

Just to clarify, Caswell does not do chrome plating - they just sell the equipment to you, or refer you to one of their 'customers'. Just stay away from the shop in Colorado. One of the worst experiences I've dealt with.

Hey, did you hear back? Is he still doing it? I really want to get this done, but it won't be for a while. I am painting the exterior of my car now, which pretty much exhausted my available car funds, plus I still need to acquire a few interior pieces in a non-broken state.

Amazing detailed product!! Man,...you expect this kind of workmanship ONLY from the biggest companies selling aftermarket accs. for our beloved FDs. And at that, sold at exorbitant prices!!

mkoch1: Congrats on your product. The FD community will not find finer pieces/parts of C-F for our cars. NOWHERE!! ...And at very reasonable and fair prices!!

Finally, he did a RX-7 license plate for me...it looks DEEP

I'll post pics as my car keeps getting put together.

I'm having my FD done in SILVER on a black interior. Should make an interesting contrast with the stock guages. The work is being done with the help of premier autowerks, 1101 e. pine st., Seattle WA 98122. They have a carbon fiber color called titanium. It's a medium between what Mark does and silver which is bright like polished aluminum. Ask for Lay . The # is 206) 726-4961 My parts should be ready this week. Pm me for my honest opinion. Expect to be without your parts for several months and the price for silver is higher (materials and a non yellowing coating) They are nice people to deal with! Owner has an FD

I'll have to go buy a spare interior. That's a long time.

How much by the way? Thanks for the info!

Yeah I talk'd to Mark yesterday and he said he was getting burnt out on doing the interior pieces because it was starting to interfere with his "real job" but he said that maybe in a few months or so to check back woth him and he may start doing them again
