Is there a particular brand that you are looking for?
Some of the higher end models (especially ones in Japan) change colors. Considering you above mentioned requirements don't mention a "FM/AM" function,...it makes it much easier.
Are you thinking about keeping the radio function? Or are you planning to seperate subscribe to a service like XM satellite/Sirius and add their seperate radio units to your existing car stereo?

I dont require am/fm. sure its better if it has it, but I have not listen to the radio in atleast 6 months, lol.
I would prefer a brand name ( I Love JVC for example). But as long as its quality and nice unit thats all I care about.

A brief browse through the JVC website showed this.

This one looks like the display can have multiple colors.

Contact these guys for your audio question needs.

The guys at Audio Options get a lot of work for show and custom cars. They've been in the industry for quite some time now, and have done award winning setups. In fact, they have a shop car (van) that showcases Clarion products in it. I'm sure they can make some recommendations based on your needs. (They've always been nice to me when I've dropped by their shop). They worked on tons of cars, ranging from exotics, to normal cars. From Craig Lieberman's then FFTF Supra, to your basic Civic stereo install.

thanks for your help, I"ll check those out. There a little different than what i want. I am looking for a black back ground with simple red lettering, without all the fancy schmancy stuffs. Its hard to get that, let alone the aux input i need.
thanks alot!

Honestly,...I've never seen a stereo unit w/ red lettering. Amber lettering maybe.
For some "red",...I would say to look into Sony's Xplod line of audio products.

(I just looked at the Sony line. A number of them have "variable color LCDs" as a feature)

Place your ad here...
You can change the LED's on many headunits (can't do this very easily on multi-color or advanced displays, but on most simple displays this is quite easy). All it takes is a basic understanding of electronics, and some simple electronic tools (plus a willingness to crack open your headunit). This way, you can get the headunit that you want, and then just change the color to match your taste.
I used to have a write-up on how I did this with a Bose system. It's a very similar process for most other units. If you want to see it, let me know and I'll see if I can find it.

Try the Nakamichi 35-Z, 40-Z 45-Z or 75-Z. Nice units and look about as stock as you could ask for. It's hard to find the amber ones (green is the other option), but worth it in my opinion.

thanks, the problem is finding all the features I need.
Mp3 playback, CDR, Red LED's and auxillary input. I can find most of these in every combination but not all.

You didn't say it had to sound decent...
It's red back-lighted, CDR compatible, plays mp3's and has an aux input.
Actually, I haven't heard one of these, so it may actually be decent... the price is right.

Here's another thread. If you have pics of stock-looking head units pls add them to this thread.

The condoms are for white lights. I've never heard of one that fits an LED. But hey we have white LEDs now... why not.
If we're going into older head units, I remember RF used to have a top 'o the line HU with a red LCD and had a very stock looking front end. Haven't seen them for sale in a few years.

I have one of those color-changing sony xplod head units. I set it on red (color 6) but all other colors are god-awful. Don't know how anyone would put up with those interior colors.
But, the red does match the FC dash color nicely.
