I thought a few people on here have the AVIC N1, 2 or 3, as well as double din D series as well.

i am using a avic-d3 pioneer it works really well. If you have the money I would look into the higher model.Just to compare. Also the Eclipse goig for around1250-1300 i have good things about. I forget the model number it might be 5500

Yeah, the pioneer AVIC series is very nice. Also Eclipse makes a double din stereo with TOMTOM built in and i thought it was pretty cool

but there is also a wire that can be fixed to work so that way you don't have to take out the gps.

I believe the wire you're referring to is the wire that connects to the e-brake so which you just ground somewhere and it allows you to watch DVDs while driving... Otherwise you can only play DVDs with an engaged parking brake...

I would also assume that's the wire he mentioned.

no no...what i mean is that i would like to watch dvds without taking out the gps cd. ...the 5510 has only a single disc player, not a dual disc player.

ya, its only a single disc driver. and i know it sucks, but the idea is that the gps would be used when you are moving, and the dvd when not moving.
and who uses the gps ALL THE TIME? whats the point?
just ground it out like it should be (to the tranny tunnel) and you can always watch the dvd when moving.

peace
