mickey mouse ears
i think i am going to use the border gauge pods from the rx7 store. are these copies? i also want to know what the mounting is like. is it real simple. do i have to drill anything? the pillar mounts just dont look that well on a car that is this beautiful. nothing against them, but they look better on a honda, not a 7. the mickey mouse ears look stock. about the fiber glass one, is it very similar to the stock color of the rx7 dash. fill me in on these pods. they also make 60mm pods right, i want defi gauges.
also, does anyone have pics of the border(copy) pods in their car. also, how hard was it to mount??? pics of the install would be nice too.

Yes, you have to drill a hole on the gauge cluster for the wiring. It's not a big deal if this IS going to be a permanent mount. IMO, it's much better than the A-pillar pd since it IS in the front view.

are these pods the real deal here. is that pic above the exact same thing that i would expect when ordering from jason at the rx7 store??? im hoping that its not just a flimsy fiberglass piece that sticks on top of the cauge gauge cluster cover. let me know. anyone else have pics? i dont want to resort to the A pillar and think that the ears look damn sick. anyone have pics of these in their cars and how hard it was to install.

You can either buy the Carbon Fiber version for $350 I think and the Fiber Glass version for $170 i think. I belive both are copies but not sure. To find out for sure just ask Jason at the store.

i have the real border fiberglass pod. it is very flimsy. alomost cracked the dm thing when i was making the holes bigger for 60 mm guages. basically i screwed the dam thing on becuse the 3m double sided tape did not work. all in all i'm happy with it.

Dave at kd rotary sells them to. They are fiberglass copies and are very strong. I can't comment on the fit as I have never installed one, I just cover them in carbon for him. I think he sells the carbon version for 250 and he should still have the last one I did for him instock.
Here is a picture of the last one I did.
