I sat in a FD with S58's. dunno if there is a big difference on sizing. but i fit in the nice. I am 6'2" 190 lbs. and i loved them. i've beem debating on 58's or the R98's. they fit really good in the car and the rails they had for them had 3 adjustable levels for up and down. i believe he had them all the way down.

I think they look great (both) but I need ones that recline. I'm going to try calling memoryfab again this week to see what they say. I still would like some third party verification on fitment though (on the R98's).

I currently have a set of S68's for sale with rails. They fit perfectly.

I finally got ahold of a rep at memoryfab. According to them the R98's WILL fit in an FD with their Low Position Bottom Mounting Seat Rail (not the "super low" ones though). Of note, their "Low Position Bottom Mounting Seat Rail" are on back order ATT.
I think I found my next set of seats...

Since he's looking at a reclinable seat, I don't think FIA approval is a concern.

Yep, I do a lot of cross country trips, so the comfort factor really is important when trying to average 800 miles a day. I see no road racing in my future either.

I'm not aware of any reclinable seat which is FIA approved. Even so, the Bride Gias is 3x the price of the MemoryFab seat and price may be a concern. If he's not racing, the FIA approval doesn't really mean anything.

If you are doing real racing (not HPDE's), I believe SCCA and NASA both require FIA approved seats. At that level, there is no reason not to even if it's not required.

After looking at the FIA requirements, I'm fairly certain the Bride Gias is not approved. The specifications requires certain angles for the harness strap holes. The fact that the Gias does not have real provisions for side straps is probably one of the many issues which keeps it from FIA approval. The other is that making the seat relineable would most likely present cases where the strap hole angles may not completely fit the spec.

Still no reviews or pictures of fitment?

I realize its an old thread bump, but its better than starting a new thread, and this one got off topic talking about FIA requirements.
I'm looking for new seats and the R98 seems very attractive.

Any racing organization which is going to require a 5/6 point harness is going to require a FIA certified seat. From my experience, AutoX does not have those requirement and I don't believe drag racing does unless you are under 10's (IIRC).

So I went ahead and ordered a R98 and it arrived today.

Test fitting went well, didn't touch the drivers door, and fits my fatass just fine. Little tight around the thighs/leg bolsters though.

It's too cold right now to install it but when I get around to it I'll post up some pics.
