Ahh, sorry for the delay. I had a couple issues, one the Planted bracket in the RHD FD's driver side hits the plastic surround on the trunk/fuel release and that prevents it from getting a clean mount to the floor. They weren't aware of the issue so once I get the time to pull my borrowed OEM back out again, I'll send them pictures and hopefully it'll be resolved for RHD cars. Second, the seat didn't fit. It's about an inch off, but the bottom of the seat in the rear hits against the trans tunnel and the interior next to the rear of the kick panel so it doesn't seem like anything that can be trimmed to force it. The seat belt bracket and the recliner hinge cover also hit and limits the range for the sliders. Perhaps without carpet and removing the recliner dial it would, but I don't want to modify the seat or interior.

I was happy to discover that I was able to tip my Recaro Speed (on Recaro rails and Planted base) fully forward to access the back. It rubs the roof liner but will make it. Can't close the door with it tipped forward.

In normal position (for me) the seat bumps against the door card in three places. I have to give a good tug to the door to get it to close. I am concerned about the long term effect on the door card and door latch from the misalignment caused.

I have not replaced the rear interior quarter panel yet. So do not know if it will need modification.

Fortunately I have picked up several spares to experiment with.

I've been meaning to start this project for a few years now but I finally got off my *** and started. I picked up a couple Kirkey Road Race seats and planned to drop the butt of them between the rails to get maximum low, like the stock seats. I might still do that just for extra foam, but I don't really need to to get low enough to fit with a helmet. It already has a 15 degree layback, but I'm adding a bit of additional tilt to the seat, partly because I like to lean a little further back but also out of necessity because the bottom of the seat is curved so it won't sit flat on the rails anyway. I had to mount it a little further forward on the rails because the seatbelt receiver mount sticks out and was pushing the seat closer to the door, so now it's centered on the rails. I also need to have the shoulder bolsters shaved down, like this Corvette owner did https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...at-for-c7.html. I used a mallet to bend them in a bit but it wasn't even close to enough. Right now I'm just using spacers for mock up purposes on the front bolts, but I'm going to see if my buddy can machine some angled pieces that I can have welded onto the bottom to mount the rails to, just so there is some added support throughout the seat. I wouldn't trust the spacers for street driving, much less racing or aggressive driving lol. I'm going to have to drill new holes in the rails for the rear bolts because the back of the seat is several inches shy of the rear bolt holes. Or maybe I can get the seat modified for that too. And I need to figure out some way to mount the bottom straps of the 6 point harness. I'm still contemplating installing a brace for the back of the seat, but I'm not sure where I'd attach it since I still have a full interior. I'm 6'3" about 240 currently with a 38" waist, and this seat fits great and even with a helmet on I have an inch or two above my head and my eyes are level with the top of the steering wheel.

All the way back. I guess I could mount the seat a little further back if I cut a hole in the side to make room for the seatbelt mount, but it's sitting about the same place as the stock seat all the way back and I don't really need it any further back.

I have re-installed my rear interior quarter panel yesterday. I am please to report that I can slide the Recaro Speed seat fully back. I have removed the seat back adjuster on the door side (rhd) of the seat. The concern was that the remaining mounting post would scrap into the quarter panel cover. However, the post moves perfectly between the tongue of the cover and the upper edge of the formed floor cover carpet. So the combination of the Recaro rail and the Planted FD3S base puts the post in the right position.

So overall I have tip forward, slide back and (crank) tilt back functions. The combination of the seat and a refurbished suspension has resulted in a very smooth, comfortable ride. I can sit back and enjoy the zoom-zoom more.

You didn't have any issues with the planted bracket on your RHD? Do you still have the plastic surround for the gas cap/trunk release levers?

I understood from reading in this thread that I would likely have to give up on the cover. So I have. ii any event, the installer trashed it trying to make it work. (I have spares). The levers operate fine.

What I read is that I would also have to cut the rear quarter panel to allow the seat to slide back, so I was pleased to learn I did not have to.

We had to modify the planted frame somewhat to accommodate my particular rail. (Remove vertical bar and drill additional mounting holes.)

I decided to just shorten the shoulder bolsters myself, although I'll probably see if I can get the trim pieces put back on, or maybe just use some kind of weather stripping on there so it doesn't tear through the cover. There are no jagged edges though, it's all smoothed off.

I think I'll be taking the seats to my buddy Tuesday night so he can start machining the mounting brackets and spacer pieces and get them welded on. Trying to figure out where to mount the eyelets for the bottom two straps on my harness.

Just wanted to add that the nrg prisma 303 medium size seats fit the fd. There is some slight rubbing with the bolsters if the seat is in the rear position. I am using planted rails with universal sliders. The heights has increased due to the sliders. I'm a short person 5'5" it fits me comfortably. The large size will not fit if your wondering

6. Japanese knockoff of Sparco Pro Drive (shoulders hit the door and leg bolsters will probably rub on the console trim).
7. OMP HTE-R XL (halo would hit the window, both leg bolsters would need to be trimmed, shoulder bolsters seem to fit)
8. Cobra Suzuka Pro GT (only fits driver's side and only after trimming shoulder bolster and both leg bolsters. Non GT model needed for passenger side.)
9: Recaro SRD/Speed (using JP market seat mount/slider) Sliding is limited due to adjustment **** hitting rear panel (very tight fit near tunnel)
10: Evo X Recaro OEM seat (using oem Evo Slider and welding the Fd bracket) (very tight fit and limited adjustment)
11: Corbeau Evo with recline - plug and play using Corbeau mounts/sliders for shorter drivers, but very tight fit. Taller than 5'10, will need serious mods to the rails or bespoke solution
12. Sparco Sprint L: MASSIVE seat (will fit a 40" waist) that is comfortable but has poor shoulder hold (space between bolsters is too wide). It will only fit with flat (or cut) door trim. May or may not require removal of the transmission tunnel trim (sorry, racecar). I have it mounted within about an inch of the floor with a custom fixed bracket (removed the factory rear seat mounts).

Acquired a second Recaro seat for my rhd passenger side . Came in filthy but cleaned up pretty well with Woolitte and some stronger apholstry cleaner. Recaro rail acquired from a different ebay seller seems to align well. Look forward to installing in my car in a few days. Menwhile I found a nail polish that hopefully works to infilll a small cigarette burn.

Got my second Recaro Berka-lounger installed on a trial basis. These SR series seats may have been manufactured more than 20 years apart. The earlier material is a very a durable and tough fabric; The newer seat less so. In any event , I am pretty pleased with the match such as it is. Recaro rail for second seat seems to line up fine. Seat belt receiver eye may be an issue. The recaro rail , as a single unit, has the seat lower than the Recaro slider/planted base of the drivers side. The passenger seat is actually for the light hand side (of an Integra), but seems to work well on the left side, The bolster may be a little more upright (and away from the door). Also, as the seat is lower, the right bolster fits nicely under the center consel side section. Picked up some proper seat bolts to finish the install.

The used Recaro seat rail/base I got on ebay did not line up with the bolt holes on the bottom of the Idealsitz SR seat shown above. Fortunately I was able to source a Bride rail/base NIB from another member. This installed the seat with minimum fuss! T

The SPX is a great looking seat. The challenge may be the height of the seat. It’s 80mm taller than the Bride.

Has anyone test fitted this seat yet in a FD?

Sparco SPX....The best looking seat, but expensive.....$2800/$3200....depending on the deal....Be interesting to see if they fit the FD.
