Keyless Entry/Remote Start Install Help

Hey,

On the12volt.com, they say that the following wires are located in the "Drivers Side Kick Panel, CPU 2"

Tach Yellow/Blue Coil
Brake Switch Green
Brake Switch Trunk PinGray (-) CPU #2 Driver's Kick Panel Parking LightsRed/Black Fuse Panel Head LampWhite/Blue (-) Light Switch Hood PinBrown/White (-) CPU #2 Driver's Kick Panel Factory DisarmDark Green/Black (-) Driver's Kick Panel Door TriggerBlue/White (-) Driver's Kick Panel above Relays

Well, first question.. where can I get the tach signal? From the coils? Do I have to pull off the UIM to get at the yellow/blue wire? Also, which thing behind the drivers side kick panel are all of these wires? Which box is cpu2? I'm so confused at this point. I'm still waiting on my door lock actuator to come in the mail.

Please help!!

I dunno how much this is gonna help...but...

1) Re: those wires, make sure you get that disarm wire, because I forgot to do that w/ mine, and I'd unlock the doors w/ the keyless entry remote and set off the factory alarm EVERY time. Pissed me off sooo badly. Had to go to the passenger side and use the key to unlock the door, thus disarming the factory alarm.

I remember messing w/ the wires, but I'm not too helpful in this because there are 1001 wires down there in my car (all the gauges and audio stuff etc), plus I had an electric genius helping me out

2) For a tach signal, the diagnostic box marked "Diagnostics" behind the battery has a tach signal in it (flip open the lid, it has a diagram on the inside of the cover that labels the leads). I use that tach lead for my shift light, so it def works.

The tach wire will be connected the coil(s). Just go there and there will be 3 or 4 wires connected and one of them will be yellow/blue. There should be a couple of wire harnesses running down through the driver's kick panel. Wire can be found there. The brake wire will also be found above the brake pedal, if you can reach it.

Test all of your wires with a multimeter before you hook up to them. If in doubt take it to a professional.

Hey.. I looked in the diagnostic box.. and it looks like my car is missing the tach wire in there. According to the diagram where the tach signal plug should be.. there is no metal plug in there. Anyways looking under the "Driver Kick Panel" theres like 300 different boxes.. any clue which I should be looking for?

My bad...I forgot to tell you. Same mistake I made. It's NOT the lead marked "Tach." It's the one marked "IG" (don't ask lol). You can just use a pin connecter (as pictured here) to get the lead, or you can just strip the wire and stick it in and be done w/ it (which is what I did):

Ahhh yes success. At first it wouldnt learn the tach signal or whatever, probably because I just had a wire jammed into the diagnostics port thing.. so I finally cleaned that up.. and then it learned my tach signal but my parking lights werent working.. turns out we had tapped the wrong red/black wire. Finally got that straightened out and it works like a charm!

Now I'm just waiting for my door actuator to come in the mail so I can rip off the door skin and install that.. and then the install will be done. I also got a new fancy key off ebay too.. works great and looks a lot better than my old bent stock key.

Anyways enough of my rambling.. if anyone ever needs any help with a remote start/keyless entry install let me know and I'll help te best I can.
