Cool Just some CF stuff...

Here is what I made today; finnaly got off my *** and did something hehe. (The R1 lips are not finished and need to be clear coated and cut but the rear bumper guard was clear coated and cuztom cut by Danny. I'll be clear coating it tomorrow as well as Chris's rear deck lid (I'll eventually get the things I owe to you Dragon and Van...)) The CF rear bumper guards might go on sale soon but not before you see them on Van's and Dragon's cars

For that I might need a mock up to copy or a core charge thingy. I am making an extension for the stock duct so that it will scoup much more air from the front to either the stock or a greddy smic (doing it for a friend right now in fact )

Do you got any pics of your Pettit cool charge II model?

um.... doesn't the resin the carbon fibre melt at high temps? i fail to see the benifit of carbon fibre bumper guards.

even dry carbon fibre peices can't withstand constant high temp flames

It keeps the soot off the bumper as well as looking not 1/2 bad haha :p

BTW: From my testing (for the heat for the exhaust bumper guards), its seems A-OK Not one has melted yet.

Skunks,

The CF R1 Lip looks great! But, how flexible is it? Won't it get damaged the first time you scrape it up drive way or bump against a curb or parking lot thing?

I'm just curious, I hear mine scrape every day.

You know what you need to do? Flare the rear (and I guess front too, while you are at it) out to do a widebody! Kinda like how Cwest does the widebody for the S15 Silvia.

the only pic I have of a almost greddy smic is from the Pettit site. http://www.pettitracing.com/ under intercoolers. It is the first one. Is a bigger fit and eliminates the complexity of the battery and intake paths. Pettit charges $100 for it. To date there hasn't been a good greddy duct made, but a lot of people buy it. I understand 1/2 inch needs to be trimmed on one side (which I plan on doing). I could fit it, take some pics to show you the fittment, then send you the core.

PM me if interested.

here is a question for you. I have a carbon fiber muffler on the HKS exhaust... don't you think the exhaust will be hotter then the bumper guard? Why doesn't it melt? I've had it on my car for over a year.

Those are some incredible looking products

Plus the bumper guard isnt under constant heat and flame, you dont shoot a flame the whole time you drive, and i dont think that muffer heat will melt it esp. when driving. looks awesome skunks! Make some custom rear 1/4 pannels w/ wheel flares.

a quick question, the 1/4 pannel you had on the car is going to be a mold right? it would be too big to fit right if you just used it because it was formed on the outside of the car?

Its pretty flexible and durable although it will probally crack off if you ram something hard enuf. If you op to get one done in kevlar/carbon, it will probally not crack (the resin/paint/carbon will but the kevlar will hold together very well, like I said, its the real deal )

IDK what kinda epoxy those guys at HKS are using but that stuff is amazing (idk how that stuff does not melt/burn off). Perhaps they have a couple layers of really good insulation between the pipe and the outer layer of metal which would explain it.

Like I said, if you manage to melt it (which is pretty damn good since your more likely to melt the stock bumper hehe) I'll replace it.
