This thread has me thinking about replacing my OEM fuel, temp and oil pressure gauges with the Spek-Pro units.

I use custom Speedhut gauges (boost, water and oil temp and oil pressure) and a PLX gauge (AFT front and rear rotor) interfaced with a Datalogit. The Speedhut gauges match the stock gauges pretty well and they come in a nice large dial with the option of a chrome bezel. As much as I love the PLX gauge setup I prefer a nice analog gauge for most things.

www.speedhut.com If you are thinking of going the Max Cooper route, speedhut also offer a full line of fully customizable gauges, including some sick GPS Speedometers!

Funny you mention the speed hunt. I always wondered what was that 4 gauge set up you have and I just found them before I came here. My cluster doesn't work right now and I'm really thinking replacing them all with the Speedhut ones. What size did you use? I think for the Tach and speedothe $' should fit but what about the smaller three?

Those PLX gauges look pretty nice as well, 2 gauges would be enough to have everything I need displayed cleanly..

What is the general consensus on pillar vs venter gauge pods? From what I read, the negative of the pillar is that there it creates somewhat of a blind spot and that it requires some minor drilling. The center pod looks pretty nice, fits easily with no modification, but you lose the center speaker...which I'm guessing is really weak anyway.

The a pillar gauge can be put in any height on the a pillar. I had mine as low as possible and it wasn't on a blind spot. Now, if you add a second one then it will block a little bit of view. IMO I don't like gauges mounted on the A pillar because the look ricey and cluttered.

Only FDs with Bose have an actual center speakers. Every other FD has just the grill. I don't like this location because it looks odd and out of place. Then the pod doesn't flow with anythign else on the car.

I only have one single gauge on my car and that is a boost gauge that is mounted on the steering column. I use the commander from the PFC for everything else.

I'm going to replace all my gauges with the Speedhut units and I want to put the boost gauge where my oil pressure gauge is at and put the oil pressure gauge where the fuel gauge is at. I'm trying to decided where to mount the fuel gauge though because would really like to get rid of the steering column mount.

Well, I have two PLX gauges mounted in the A pillar (as shown in the pics). No vision problems at all. Too ricey? Personal opinion I guess. I put them in the A pillar because I thought it hid the gauges the most and kept the OEM look.

Not true. All FDs (at 1994s) came with a 5th speaker mounted in the center grille. I still have a speaker in there although it is an upgraded one. Interesting fact: this speaker had its own amplifier.

That will look pretty cool I think.

Yes, it just opinion. I like my interior to look as OEM/clean/not cluttered as possible

I guess that is for 94+ because non of the 93s I had (4 of them) had them. The one thing I plan to do with the center speaker hole is to detach the PFC commander screen and mount it up there and put the key pad in the ash tray.

Well I ordered my new speedometer from Speedhut. Its going to be a while before I get it installed though because I have to wait til I move next month and find a house. I just ordered that one to check it out and see how it will look, then I will order a tach.
