Interesting Things!! Rx8

I must admit that I don't understand why FD in particular look down on the RX-8. Its the next generation of the rotary, and necessary for the rotary to continue on the motoring path. I wonder why the FD guys don't hate on the nonturbo FC's and SA's......considering they lack the twin turbos of awesomeness that makes the FD so much better than any other car

Well i dont hate on the RX8, its just that in all the generations the RX series has been getting better , improving, but the RX8 is not better than the FD so thats why it seem like we r hatting o it. Maybe the FD was too ahead of his time.

Agreed. And although they look nice from many angles, when I look toward the front from the rear of the car, the fenders make me think of a PT Cruiser. I know it's all part of mazda's new styling, but none of the other cars look quite so "retro" to me.
In my opinion, the rx8 is a great car for a rotorhead looking for a daily driver, and obviosly it's a good choice for all the 19yr old girls that buy it b/c it's "cute." The bottom line is that it's just not the performer that the FD is.
As for "why don't we bad mouth the previous generation 7's?", well, we know and respect where we came from.

The Rx-8 is not in the same league as the FD because it's not SUPPOSED to be!! It seems that many people, especially FD owners look "down" on the Rx-8 because it's not as sleek as the FD, or doesn't have "rocketship" acceleration, etc., as if its the Rx-7's replacement or something. IT"S NOT. It's a different car completely. That's why Mazda is thinking about bringing a new Rx-7 out. If they did, do you think they would discontinue the Rx-8??? No. It's almost like if M3 owners looked down on the M5 because it "boxier", "to bulky" "has 4 doors", etc.. The Rx-8 is a genuine, excellent performing sports car which seats 4 adults, has a trunk, is comfortable and fun to drive, and comes out above it's competition (G35 coupe, 330i, etc) but can also be compared favorably with the S2k, 350z, etc. and still come out on top, while costing less than all of them. It's a different car and should be appreciated for what it is. It is NOT the FD's replacement.

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
I think the most important comments in this thread have been that it is a non-evolutionary model and that it was not intended to replace the FD. I want to point out that the RUMOR that Mazda is making another seven is just that "RUMOR". there is no evidence that Mazda is doing so? I have only read about a new Renesis alt-fuel engine and an outside racing team working with the Renesis in a 3 rotor config., but nothing, I mean nothing about a new seven in the works. It all seems based on sales of the 8 if there was to even be a desire to re-create the seven. I have a feeling with all previous happenings, a new seven would not be designed. There would have to be a big market for that and because of their failings before on the FD, I highly doubt it is on the priority list of Mazda, which is too bad.

A new 7 concept has been in the works for some time now according to Mazda reps. The question is if/when they will release/reveal it (the concept). They have clearly stated however, that they have no plans as of yet to introduce a new 7 in the next 5 years. But the point again is that the Rx-8 is not the 7's replacement, hence the new 7 concept in the first place.
