Hood pins on Stock FD hood.
Can I please see some pics of the Hood pins on the FD's. I would prefer stock, and montego blue, but all others are fine. Thanks guys.

Someone backed into my car with an SUV, denting my hood. The next time I closed the hood the rivots holding the latch to the hood failed. However, it still did not open because the latch mounting plate is sandwiched between the skin and frame of the hood and the plate is larger than opening in the hood frame for the latch itself. Therefore even if the rivots attaching the latch to the hood fail it will not fly open. The only way the hood will spring open is if the steel latch fails BEFORE the rivots holding it to the frame fail. It is possible, but there are other things to worry about that are more probable and dont make the car look like a highschool student's wet dream.

No it's not Turbo'd
Yes the locks look significantly better than pins, especially since pins rust due to the friction, and locks don't or do, but not where you can see it...

Well, my hood, as you can see is a little modified. Without rain gourds, just like that on the picture now, the hood doesn't move anywhere past 120mph. However when i put my rain gourds in, for some reason as soon as i go 120-130, it starts to move, like it will open or something.
I'm affraid that it might wrap itself around my winshield, and then i can kiss my *** goodbye.
So for all of you that think it looks ugly or not, Frankly, i don't care, because i need to do somethign about it.
I still haven't seen any pics. So, someone please post some.

because most likely with guards off theres suffcient space for the air going in the front to escape, with guards on the air will be smacking against the underneath of the bonnet making it lift.

Ya, it rattles a little, but we all know that hood pins will do nothing. Unless you really think the rattling somehow affects the car. In that case, you are even dumber than i originally thought.

I don't see anything wrong with hood pins.
Have any of you ever seen how much the stock hood flutters above 140 mph???
It's kind of scary if you ask me, it almost looks like it isn't latched at all.
I've thought about hood pins for the stock hood for this very reason, but will probably refrain from using them until I go with a vented after market hood.

YES!!
Honestly!!
I feel hood pins or locks are good.
And The stock hood does flutter and shake at high speeds..Everyone wonder why??Well at high speeds, the air traveling through the front vents
cant find a place to escape.Pressure pushing the hood up..Well Hood pins Will help Hold the front of your hood down better, keeping it a little more stable or attached ..also the front is held down by only the lock so only 1 point vs. 2 hinges in the back of the hood.but the Rear of my 89 TURBO II i had before would really Flutter and rise above the body..!!over 130 mph..the hood scoop creates alot of drag and also the pressure is being built up under the hood..!!
But what do we do about this pressure that still exists under the hood??Well venting it or Lifting the hood Can let air escape, thus in my theroy, allowing more air to pass into and through the engine bay allowing more cooling..Here is a link of my mod on this post..Oh and hood locks Will protect your investment But why wouldnt they steal your car first before they take anything underneath??any lock can be broken so i would rather have hood pins with clips=)(just cause it looks faster!!LOL)
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=257936 or here is a pic of what i did to my GTUs =) (some hate it some love it..

putting it down daily
Yo- not to hijack, but I'm liking Jun's front end- way sanitary. Is it custom? Looks like removed and smoothed FTP's and an extra hole cut into the center of an S5 nose. Me likes.

Just like a fire extinguisher... Wonder how many people here thought having one was "RICE" or "POINTLESS" until thier poor FD burned to the ground..

Anyway, i'll start shoping for some nice looking hood pins that don't rust, so maybe we can put them together

I have to dig through some old posts / pictures.. but it's basically a big silver disk 3" across (diameter) and a oversized computer (cylinder lock( in the middle...
