I agree with the 4 channel amp + sub amp. The only problem is that he only have $400, a GOOD (brand new) 4 X 25W amp will cost him that much. Thats why I recommended a 4channel amp for startup, and once he gets more $$$ on his pockets a separate amp for the subs is a good idea.
Thanks for the advice! looking into now..

So yesterday I went around to a couple of different places, and ended up at tweeter. I went about 93 bucks over budget which isnt that bad but here's what I decided to do. I went with the Pioneer DEH-P400UB head unit, and then JL audio speakers all around, with tweeters. Then at the end of the summer I'll be back to throw in a JL 4 channel amp, along with a JL sub (not sure which one yet, but I'm really attracted to their prodcuts after seeing and listening to them). As for the amp, 2 channels will go to power the sub, which the guy at tweeter said if I go JL it will drive the sub all day long, and 2 channels for the front two speakers. If anyone has any objections, let me know, because as of right now I only put 20% down so I can always get that back. Oh and tweeter is doing the installation, and I know they do quality work. Thanks for all the help guys!

You don't need to spend a fortune to have a decent sound system. There's no reason to spend over $400 for any sound system unless you're going to competitions. I paid a total of $120 for the sound system in my FD and it sounds great. No subs because what kind of retard puts subs in a sports car? honestly...

Anyway, I got a used Sony GT100 head unit for $35 and a set of Sony Xplod 4-way 6x9s for $85. The car came with some Kenwood 2-way 5.5" speakers that I put in the doors, too. It took about an hour to do the entire install and it sounds great

If you did installed any rear speakers, how are you going to power them when you get the amp and configured it as stated above?

Decent is a subjective word, as what is decent for you might not be decent for the person sitting next to you. Also, if you plan on doing sound competitions, $400 will not get you there; not even close.

Thanks! As of right now nothing is installed on the car, infact they are kind of backed up so im gonna wait to get everything installed (plus my car is going over to jim at JPR for a couple days early next week to get some work done). So for now I put 20% down to reserve the speakers and head unit. There are two tweeters, but only on the front, I don't think there are any for the rear, but I'll double check that. And as for the amp, Maybe I should get a 4-channel amp for all the speakers, and then a mono for the sub? sounds a little better? Thanks.

Cool!

I am 100% against tweeters on the back, hence why I asked. For starters, you can buy a QUALITY 4 channel amp; it will be able to power everything. If you ever feel that you need more, then you can add a second 1 or 2 channel amp for the sub.

Just buy quality, and work yourself up, if you feel the need for it

I personally don't like sony. Rockford is pretty decent. If you want a good bang for your buck look for Total audio (Subdivision of JL audio) they're pretty good.

I agree with the Sony comment...

And I must confess, I am not a big fan of Rockford (or MTX), but they are definetly good products.
