Gauges

I'm looking to pick up some gauges for my FD. I already have a Blitz Boost Gauge mounted in RE-A Steering wheel, but I think I want to go ahead and put the gauges along my A-pillar.

I was wondering first where I could get a good pod for this and then what gauges are going to be needed the most? I know I will have boost for sure, and then what should I have? Oil Pressure and something else or what do most of you guys have.

I have stock turbos and just need gauges to make sure everything is running correctly.

Here is pic of my gauges so far, would like to have it match my gauges there, that's why I'm trading out my boost gauge.

Personaly, I think A-pillar gaugle pods look terrible. I have the Defi BF series in my FD. I really like they way they look just bolted to the pillar. The pillar pods look bulky.

I think you should have the following gauges:

1. Boost
2. EGT
3. Water temp, Oil temp, Fuel pressure

I have the A-pillar pod and prefer it myself.

If your going with 60mm a-pillar pod i have one for sale (search my name in FD 4 sale section). I need to buy another one now though so i can use the 52mm holes it comes with.

I have 2 gauge pod on top of the dash, one gauge in the console in a DIN pocket with my boost controller and a boost gauge on the A pillar. I think more than one on the A pillar would be annoying, and I used to have the boost gauge mounted in a steering column mount, like in the first post, but hated it.

just fyi - there are a ton of threads about gauges in the 3rd gen section.

egauges has some of the most competitive pricing and great customer service so i'd recommend them as a vendor. they have gauges, sensors and pods.

unless you are racing or doing a lot of track days, you really don't need all the gauges that bodyshop recommended. you definitely should have boost and water. other than that, maybe EGT if you know or want to learn how to use an EGT gauge, maybe oil temp but generally the oil temps run 20 degrees higher than water so its not all that necessary,

oil pressure is not necessary.

you just got the car so don't blow all your money straight out. you will still want to replace all the coolants, plugs, wires, fuel filter etc

I agree. I should have been more specific: You've gotta have a boost gauge. Which everyone agrees with. You don't need oil pressure right now because you have a factor gauge for that. I always wait to have oil temp. before I get into the gas. I think it's more important to wait for oil temp instead of water temp. before getting into boost. I wanted EGT since I have engine management and single turbo. If you're running stock turbos and ECU I don't think an EGT gauge would be very important.
