Gauge cluster question

This may be a stupid question, but if you don't disconnect the battery before removal (and reinstallation) of the gauge cluster, will it mess up your dash lighting along with the readings of the gauges? And if so, can you fix it by just disconnecting the battery and disconnecting and reconnecting the gauge cluster and reconnecting the battery again? I also disconnected the HVAC/stereo section and I get no light on there now either. I'm going to try it and I'll post results, but most likely most of you know the answer anyway, haha. I'm just trying to get an answer ASAP so I can either go ahead and get a replacement gauge cluster or stick with the one I have.

check for a blown fuse. otherwise reset the ECU and see if that helps.

O-K, the fuse thing I can do, I've never reset the ECU before, how do you do that? Thanks for the info Jason!

Sounds like you have the problem too, HAHA. I got my Tach and LED lights in today, now I'm just waiting on the sockets from Fritz and I'll be posting the results, so stay tuned!

Well I've checked what I believe to be all the fuses and haven't found any bad ones yet, anyone else have any ideas? I've heard about resetting the ECU but I don't know how to do that. I've checked the fuse box under the dash on the driver's side and the two under the hood on the driver's side, is there another fuse box somewhere else? In the fuse box under the hood closest to front of the car, the "Main" fuse is supposed to be 120A but there was an 80A fuse in there. That's most likely not the problem cause I had dash lights before, at least on the center console, but I figured it might cause a problem later. Anyone have any ideas?

OK...

So I'm a dumbass. I figured out the problem and I THINK I might be ready for the flaming. I forgot to hook up the dimmer switch when I put it back together from taking off the indiglo gauges the first time, but in my defense, some of the lights still didn't work. I wasn't aware at first that there was a positive and negative on the bigger bulbs themselves so all I did was turn them around in the socket 180 degrees and they worked just fine. I have the same problem Hyperite does with the light though, it's brighter on some parts of the gauge than others. I'll post pics tomorrow, but if you want to know how it looks now just look at Hyperite's post about his. Mine is minus the Defi gauges...

I'm not sure what's wrong with me, I did the same **** again tonight, haha. I was under the hood trying to replace my "Main" fuse, it had an 80A in there but it was supposed to be a 120A so I got one and swapped it out. I had trouble getting in there so I took the whole fuse box out and when I put it back in I forgot to hook up the connectors on the bottom. I started messing with the dash again cause some of the lights weren't coming on and all of a sudden my headlights wouldn't come on and they wouldn't flip up at all either. I wasn't sure if it was the connection or something else so I looked there first and everything looked fine, so I went to go swap the 80A fuse back in, just in case there was some stupid reason it didn't work with the 120 and I noticed the wires on the bottom weren't connected, haha. After that everything worked fine, haha. BTW, does anyone else with an FD have that 80A fuse in place of the 120A for the Main? I'm just wondering why the wrong one was in there.

The pics of the gauges didn't show anything cause I'm not sure if I can turn off the flash on my camera and every time the pic looked like they weren't on due to the flash. So, sorry.
