FD OEM ROOF/bike rack

I was curious as to if any one on the forum has a roof/bike rack on there FD. Or atleast pics of some that do...

i know there was an dealer option for it in japan but not sure if it was offered here in the US.

here are some pics of the ones they offered..

or would any one of a good company that makes universal racks that would fit the fd.

thanks in advance.

sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Best rack I have seen is this one that I have... They don't make it anymore but I happen to find one on craigslist. I made a few mods so that it only rides on the glass which is awesome. It was made by Delta and called Hunch Back.

Here are a few more, these are all I have. I get some pretty odd looks from people. I even had a guy pull up next to me at a stop light and completely yell at me saying that I should never do that to an awesome car...

Wow... I get pissed if someone puts their hand on my FD. Those pictures make me cringe. Personally Id rather spend the money you were going to use on a luggage rack and pick up a $500 beater to carry your junk on, but maybe Im just a bit too **** about the FD..

I am actually the same way you are, owned my car for 10 years now and it is still my baby. But, I also never drive it cause I live in the city. The only time I really drive anywhere is when I go mountain biking and it is usually really nice weather when I do. So being able to drive my rx7 to the trails means I can have the best of both worlds. As I mentioned above, the rack sits completely on the window and doesn't touch any paint. I was going to do a hitch mount but hitch but didn't really want to go that route. I put maybe 2000 miles a year on the car and most of those are at the track.

I agree with Rxmfn7. An old 323 or Protege or something will not only easily carry the bikes, but all the other mud-covered crap that goes with them.

...And on top of that, how smooth of a mountain are you gonna go biking at in an FD, anyway?

I live in Chicago, more like hills. I have a DD I can take to the trail, but like I said, I get to drive the car to the trails. Anyways, it gets more abuse on the race track than driving to the trails. No worries on mud issues, I change before and after I ride.

im with you. I like it. adds a lot of character to the fd..

i do see were Rxmfn7 and Natey are coming from, i was the same. I like fds looking really sporty and clean.

BUT!!! i would rather put a roof rack on a fd then some of the body kits ppl put on that just ruin the lines...(and every one seems to love them )

I have a DD (a nissan frontier and Miata) but there not my weekend car.. the FD is ..

and i would rather spend gas money on my fd any day over my other cars LOl

but to each there own.

I couldn't agree more, and IMO, it's not really a big deal to take your FD to the trail.

As long as you park at the end of the pavement and RIDE into the forest, not drive.

I like how the brochure has pictures of skis. I'd like to see anyone TRY to drive an FD in the snow and see if they actually get anywhere.
