I drove through Richmond, VA in over a foot of snow two weeks ago, passing 4x4's scattered across the ditches. The rx7 does fine in snow as long as you're not using ultra high performance summer tires. I had "sport" all season tires... yokohama avid v4s.

Handled it with minimal problems. (didn't have a choice, was on my way back from vacation, visiting family in baltimore.)

To stay on topic, I'd love to find a snowboard rack for the FD. Just to be able to cart it home, then meet up with a friend who has 4x4 to go out to the mountain.

IIRC Yakima has Q towers and 48 inch bars that will fit an FD but it was VERY expensive, 500 some dollars when I priced it out.

i've only owned my fd for a week now and only one day it hasn't snowed, its only been maybe an inch of snow on the roads, except for my friends house whos road doesnt get plowed there maybe 3 inches of snow. haven't got stuck or had any major issues yet, obv use no gas. since i snowboard i think i'd have problems getting to mountains in vermont without putting snows on it.

i've had roof racks on two different cars, they are always pricey, ebay/craigslist and you can find stuff used for cheap. the oem one would probably be a more expensive route since it would be coming from japan, and my guess is there aren't too many of them in japan either.
