Are fender mirriors worth it? I am looking at a pair of RE-Amemiya fender mirriors I just dont know how good they are or if they and really just for looks. Any input welcome.

fender mirrors are just for looks. I do not know if RE-Amemiya ever wind tunnel tested them, but FWIW the stock mirrors are designed to flow with the body and are wind tunnel tested. The RE-Amemiya mirrors might marginally hurt the aerodynamics of the car. Any loss would be small though.

Fender mirrors were originally used to locate the mirror far enough forward so the driver did not have to move his eyes too far away from his focus... the racetrack ahead of him.

Back in the early 60s, they used to place the mirrors on the fenders. Looks pretty goofy to me. Not very user friendly either. Consider if the mirror is on the fender 3 or 4 feet away, you probably have to squint to try and see whatever is in a 4" x 4" mirror. Easier to see things in a mirror in the stock location.

RE wind-tunnel tests pretty much all of their bodykits, so to speak. The body kits essentially incorporate different parts and designs of their past JGTC (Super GT) racecars. And if you're going for the rare factor, those mirrors are def. the way to go; only one other person I know has 'em in the US (Kai). He said he loves 'em, as he never has to turn his head to check for cars. Lemme know, I can get 'em for ya if you'd like.

Thanks,

muibubbles, off the top of my head, yes, they're the only ones who make that retro style for the FD. Do me a favor plz and email me at Info@FDNewbieImports.com and I'll shoot you a price quote (I can't keep track of PMs).

Thanks!
