Do new windshields include the trim?

My windshield is fine, though you can tell it is 27yo glass technology, and the rubber around it is in bad shape. Anyone know or experienced a replacement where the whole section is replaced as a package? I'd really like to see our window in a modern glass such as what the Land Rovers use, but I suspect even finding our windshield might be a problem.

The windshield is still easily avaiable and it is just supplied as the original.

My windshield was quite reasonable, expect to pay for some rust repair when they do it though.

I'm thinking of removing mine, followed by stripping the black painted trim, repainting it, then getting a new windshield. I just don't want to have the guy show up and have bad rubber in there. I want to have everything ready. I hadn't thought of the rust possibility. Frick.

I wish I could have the whole car done up in POR15 and powder coated so it would be impervious to scratches and rust!

I've had mine replaced a couple of times. No rust here. You can get them to pull the trim off before they replace the windshield. Gives you some time to prep your trim. BTW, no rubber in there for you to replace.

Not true...there are tiny strips of plastic in the trim. I'm going to get my trim powdercoated once I decide on a paint scheme for Furious...until then, all the trim is off except the bottom piece, left off on purpose after I had the windhsield replaced last year.

I wonder if I'm thinking of a trim around the "rain gutters" then... Somewhere between the top of the windshield and the roof of the car are these metal covers with rubber/plastic all around the roof of the car. Maybe I'm thinking of those. I gotta get a picture of the whole thing to explain it. Anyway, I need rubber for the WHOLE FRIGGIN CAR.

blackdragonauto.com is a place to start. I recently replaced my windsheild and there was major rust issue there. Since my Dad and I did the work ourselves the cost was minimal. I took a wire brush on a drill to remove the rust. since it was not very pitted I painted it with some rust inhibiting paint. I didn't use anything except windowweld and spacers. She doesn't leak, so far. It was only after the fact that I realized that black dragon offered the foam strip to use with sealant. Next time I'll know. They also have the spacers and just about anything rubber that you may need. Good luck on the window!

They also have the trim clips that hold the metal on. Only place I've found those and believe me...I looked. I broke most of them off of both cars. I tried to save them until I found them for 10 bucks.

This is the "trim" I was referring to. One picture shows the bottom right (driver side) of the windshield and depicts the side and bottom metal trims that I question. One picture shows the top trim and the remaining picture shows the trim removed. It seems like I need to order this stuff from somewhere like blackdragonauto and have it available for the windshield installer guy. Or, is the windshield something we should install ourselves? It just seems like our windshield has a whole lot going on in the way of surrounding metal fittings and various rubber and glue like sealants. I just wonder if I made a call to the windshield guy if he would come and take care of the whole thing or put my crappy trim back on the new window.
