So a friend of mine was telling me about something he'd seen in a tuner mag awhile back, it was a custom LCD display to replace the original in the dashboard. Along with the software, you could customize your readouts with 32 differant inputs and up to 6 "gauges" at a time... along with presets. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of or seen it for an RX7?

You mean this one in my FD. This is using the CAN output from a Haltech E8 to drive the display... Really reasonably priced considering the cost of the AIM units.

The only dash/cluster i like for a street driven car (for it's clean display and user friendliness) is the DEFI Super Sports cluster. It's not cheap (initial cost ) + horrible exchange rate, but i like it.

It is possible on any car using a newer aftermarket ECU with CAN output. I think there may be some newer digital dashes that can be wired in without the need for CAN communication.

 

Hack your dashboard, put in a good OLED display, get something to output to it and can interface with CAN bus and use this...

Been waiting on some more development in this area. Would love to see someone use the original cutouts but with a display behind them.
