daily driver seat recomendations

I just recently purchased a 93 rx-7. The factory seats are in horrible shape and need replacing. There is also one of the seat brackets that is broke right past the mounting hole. I have been looking at several seats by various companies but am being told different stories on what will fit and what will not fit in the car. I am looking for an adjustable seat doesn't need to flip up but would like to be able to lay seat back some if needed. (I'm 6'4" fit fine in factory seats laid back slightly) The seats I have been looking at are the Sparco Siena http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/seat/siena.asp
or even the torino
http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/seat/torino.asp
What has been told to me by several people, shops, companies is that the seats i'm looking at will not fit for the most part i'm being told that almost any reclinable seat will not fit except maybe something like the bride brix. On the other end others have said that they will fit no problem its just a matter of getting the bracket and sliders that will fit. I have found one store that offers a seat base for sparco street/sport seats but as you can see by the link there is no price etc listed for the 93 model
http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ior&prodid=998
just says to call. So I called person I talked to was not familiar enough with the rx-7 to inform me what style seat would fit if it was the fixed back only or others. Left name and number said he would have a fella that works there and knows about the rx-7 give me a call and see what we could work out. As of yet I haven't heard anything so figured I'd see if I could get some input here maybe from some people that have these seats installed or can help me out in this area. It just makes me want to cry everytime I open the door and have to see the big worn holes in the factory seats leather. Any recomendations on seat brands/types (would like to go sparco if it can be done without haveing a seat crunched up against the sides). Would also appreciate any links to what is recomended and mounting brackets for them. Thanks much.

Those Siena's are bigger than the Torinos which are already a tight fit on the FD.

You can get the Torino's in the FD, however, it will be a tight fit. To my knowledge, Sparco does not have a mounting bracket set for the FD. You can order OEM parts from:

Malloy Mazda

Talk to Ray Crowe

if you want to repair your stock rail and get new seat covers for the stock seats: www.leatherseats.com

The only companies I've seen that have rails specifically for their seats and the FD3S are Corbeau and Bride. Any of the others and you'll probably have to fabricate some adapter plates for the stock rails.

I don't think you'll match the stock color exactly. The stock color is a light tan, so anything around that color would work.

I appreciate you guys responding so quickly. The leatherseats.com site would be a way to go even doing a variation of black seats wouldn't be bad since the interior is black and beige only problem is under the applications on the site it has n/a listed for every catagory in the 93-94 hb bucket seats. (actually for any rx-7 seats hard to believe so many companies have overlooked applications for this beautiful car) Has anyone ever ordered from then for a rx-7 application?

Exactly how tight are we talking with the torinos. I went and looked at some of the corbeau seats seeing as how they have brackets for the install and came across the cr1 seat they offer
http://www.corbeau.com/products/cr1/cr1.shtml#
from the specs it seems to be smaller all around than the torino in some cases by an inch or more. Any opinions?

I appreciate all the input guys. Believe I've decided to go with recovering stock seats threw autoleathers.com
http://www.autoleathers.com/HTML2/AL.MAIN.FS.html
Leatherseats.com listed everything N/A for the rx-7 (didn't call to ask about that) but autoleathers.com list the rx-7. Believe I'm going to try the two tone inserts - black main, with tan as the insert. If tan isn't an exact match to the beige interior of the car it shouldn't be noticable with the main part of the seats done in black but with the tan addition will or should tie in with the original interior scheme. They also offer a decent warranty if you have it installed by a place on there list and there happens to be two in town. That way I don't have to worry about getting it tight since I've never recovered seats before let someone else worry about it. For those out there that would go this avenue and would cover themselves vs letting an upholstry shop do it they also offer a kit for believe it was $99.00 that includes all the tools you would need to accomplish this. I'll try and do some before and after pics also to put up so people can see what autoleathers.com can do. Thanks again.
