Console arm rest pad mod

I don't use the ash tray & had two blank switch covers. So I moved the warning lights & rear Def switch to the forward three locations.
Formed a piece of aluminum as a backing plate. I had an old torn up console, so I cut out a section of the cover to fit. added some dense foam under it. I glued the cover to the backing plate, then used double sided tape to sick the whole works to the console. Easy to return to stock. Just peel it off.
I usually drive with my hand on the shifter, so now my elbow has somewhere more comfortable to rest.

I like...but I'm still partial to the JDM armrest that takes the place of the ashtray. It's padded real nice, and rests my elbow quite comfortably. But it IS a little pricey...

I totally agree. The JDM armrest is very comfortable, and looks really nice. The armrest is pricey (paid $60), but youll also have something "JDM" in your car. I like your innovation, but my armrest just flows much better with the interior.

Where'd you get it for $60??? I got mine for $85, and I thought I got a deal on it, considering it retails for $96...

Oh and the other thing I like about it is that you can actually use it. When you pop up the padded rest area, there's a nice large area to put stuff in, like a cellphone, change, etc. Putting stuff in the ashtray was a prob...most stuff wouldn't fit. And what did fit inside, well, good luck trying to get it back out lol

Sled Driver, looks really good. Glad to see someone try something different. I'm curious as to where to got the CF dash parts from? Was it a stick on kit or...?

Thanks.

That is totally true. No matter what, i love the armrest. It is comfortable and convenient. I'm am gonna have to agree with FDNewbie on that one.

But yeah, the custom armrest looks awesome. I love it when people go ahead and make something new on their own. It makes each 7 even more unique. Keep up the good work.

Not just that, I simply admire the skills he has and the ability to do something like that.

I know a lot of people still love the aluminum pedals he made. I don't even know where to start when it comes to actually making things or modifying them as such...so I have him madd respect. My hat's off to you, Sled Driver.

I WANA KNOW ABOUT THE CF PANELS.

I have to redo the whoel interior of my car, sat in a drive way uncovered for about 7 otr 8 years un-covered, so its all shot to hell, but now that its mine im going to redo it, and i want to replace some of the panels (mainly center console) with CF ones.

oh yeah its an 85 rx7 GS, and im having a hell of a time finding parts for it (inside or out) and i dont want to have to fabricate them seeing as to how i dont have to gear for it but if i have to i am a case modder and have been known to get creative =)
