Changing Carpet color... Tan->Black...

I just need some input from someone that actually did this... I know auto parts store sell this vinyl dye that works for carpet and seats etc... My question is, is there a way to paint the interior without removing the carpet out?

Also for the guys that did the seats... were there any problems afterwards? Does the color wear out?

I know there are seat covers that you can replace etc, but i dont' have 550$ for that and the OEM black carpet costs about the same if not more.

The way i look at it, i'll give it a shot painting it and then if i screw up, i can replace it. If you have any pictures please post those as well.

Thanks

There is a group buy going on for replacement carpet. As far as the seats go, I've seen cars with the seats painted over. They look new and the paint flexes. Did not notice any peeling or cracking.

I want to know where the group buy is..

The seats are gonna screw you in about 6 months. I did this once and it was ok for a month and then little scratches became numourous.

My local guy said that he would recover my vert seats for $325 in imitation leather and $650 in all leather.

Everybody else quoted 1200-1500 for the seats

BoOsTin FD,

If you are serious about changing the carpet color, I would talk to a carpet store. Carpet is carpet. They'll know what to use to change the color and make it last. From what I've seen of most of those dyes that places like Autozone carry; they end up rubbing off after a while.
