cd player...

where is the best place to install a cd player. i really don't wanna take out my old school stock radio. haha! but i'm going crazy without a cd player.
i was thinking of installing it in the glove box? or in the lil boxes behind the seats?
any of you who have done this before, give me your two cents, please.
and i hear installing cd players into 1st gen rx7s can be tough.... is this true?
thanks

You can go with an FM modulated cd changer and keep the factory unit. Hide the Cd changer in the rear pocket, or if it is small enought in the glove box.

My 2 cents.

An FM modulator is a neat little device that you can connect to any audio device, like a cd player, and what you do is you tune your FM radio station to a particular frequency, and it will play whatever is hooked into the modulator. They aren't very expensive, but they don't work so well either. But if your stereo is stock, I doubt you'd notice.

Personally, I just used a cd-tape adapter until I put an aftermaket in dash cd player in

Not only that, the sound quality isn't so great because there are noise(s) and interference(s).

Well I don't know who installed their Modulators, but they are not that bad. Yes its not CD quality, but its better then radio quality sound. As to the external radio, if want to use your stock radio you are hit out of luck. You will need to make a switch to go between the radios, I'm not sure how good you are at doing this but it will not be easy. TYhe only way you will get the use of your stock radio and a CD player is an FM modulated cd changer. It should cost you $250 tops installed for a Circuit City.

Everyone thinks that modulators will make you lose a ton of quality because of "interference". Actually, FM has quite high quality abilities, but you never hear it because your not right next to the tower. Get someone with an Ipod and FM modulator to take it in your car and show you how good the quality is. When its right up next to it, with a stock sound system you wont be able to tell the difference between a cd or that.

Dont forget that some FM Modulators will just plug directly into the antenna wire, not even having to transmit, but just forwarding the signal onto the antenna wire... With using that there's no problems with "loss of quality" Just don't get some bad 10 dollar one... You definately get what you pay for in this case...
