Bumpin system?

I kno theres a lot of you guys out there that dont believe in putting systems in your car because they "weigh it down". If you're one of those people then you wont enjoy this thread! For the other people who like systems... please help me out. So far I'm planning on getting 2 Focal Access 13" subs and 2 Focal Polyglass 6+" speakers. I can figure out amp and deck later but for now i want two subs and 2 speakers thats it. If you guys like this set up let me know, if u got suggestions then post those too. Anything to help

thanks

13" sub WTF?? never heard of it LOL must be new.

dude two of those would break stuff... the car is tiny. I have 2 tens and they are up like 1/4 on the amp. I would say one 12 (or 13???) would be enough.

Lol you seem confused about the 13". I'll help clear it up for you. Basically Focal is weird, it goes 11" and then 13" for their company. There is no 12" for focal that i know of.

haha the reason u never herd of em is cuz ur in america.... america gets everything better than canadians but for once heres a product that is actually good and we have first! haha well you guys have em u just gotta look a lot harder for em. Its a company thats based in Europe and they are known for quality. It easily competes with products such as JL audio, Rockford fosgate, MTX, and Eclipse. Very good company and also more expensive than JL audio. Hard to believe but true.

focal is a very good brand. Are you going to run a high-output alt?Your going to need atleast 750 watts for each , 1000 perferred. What kind of music is going to be played on the system? If you listen to rock, rap, bass, techno, pop, or music with alot of low end then I would recommend using a ported enclosure with the subs either facing forward or aimed straight up at the glass. Also the ported enclosure is the ideal enclosure due to minimize back waves, higher efficiency, low frequency distortion, better midbass transitions, and in a hatchback car it will reduce the boominess 80 hz trasnfer that hatchbacks are known for.I have two jl 12w3d2 with a jl 500.1 in a ported enclosure tuned to 28 hz and it puts out 137 db of clean output. It sounds good with every kind of music I throw at it.If it was me I would go with Jl 12 w7 due to efficiency, customer support, reliability, proven performance. But again like I said your going to aleast need a 160 amp alt. to push the setup your talking about. But focals are very good.Seen them and heard them in the judging lanes.

I bought a pair of Focal 13" Subs today 33wx is the model. I will have them installed in a custom enclosure next weekend hopefully. I'll post pics. They will be running off of a Mcintosh amps. The fronts are also Focal 3 way components. Focal is one of the best brands as far as car audio goes. Don't expect to win SPL competitions with them though. They are for quality. They are French made hence the "weird" sizes. It's actually a 33 cm which is more or less a 12-13" sub. IMO, they are way better than JL and almost everyother brand out there. Dynaudio comes very close, I prefer Focal over them though. I'll post pics of the subs tomorrow.

"all you need" is a very vague statement.

Everyones needs are different. So yes in your opinion 2 10's or 1 12 works great for you. I've heard systems with two 10's or 1 12 or 2 15's. Ive heard lots of different set ups. 2 10's are perfect for enjoying your music. im looking for a bit more than that tho... I want a headache from my music call my crazy but ya thats me

First of all focal is not better than jl my friend. You need to read more and install more before you come up with answers like that.Read the reviews on the jl 10 w7 and 12 w7.Put every subwoofer to sham on the tests and and actual listening. Please read before you put things up that are not true. All brands of audio are targeted towards different crowds. Also depends how its installed and alot of other factors involved.

First of all... I wasn't answering anything.. there was no question made. I have experience with JL Kicker and Focal subs... and IMO, again for the retard... that stands for "in my opinion"... so don't try to debate it by saying reviews here and reviews there.. because it's my personal opinion. I feel Focal is way better than JL subs.

Ok, I would recommend a 4 channel amp, why? Because later on you might want to add a component set up front or back depending on your likes.I would atleast run 75 watts to 100 watts rms to each of the speakers. Most headunits and amps have crossovers these days to dedicate frequency the each speaker. Now lets get into mono amps(sub amps)You would atleast need 1000 watts rms for those focals or any high power displacement speaker. But just so I can remind you.You need to get a 160 amp high output alternator and and at least 5 farads cap bank to run this kind of set-up.Because if you use this on your stock alt. its going to die and your also going to kill alot of batteries.Trust me I've been there and done that.

So 1 amp for the subs: 1500w or 1000?

And a seperate amp for the speakers: 200w?

Am I correct?

You have to find out what rms power they(subs) each can handle. But if I'm correct the need 500 watts atleast each.So a 1000 would be fine. The amp for the other speakers I would get 300 watt rms or 400 rms amp , 4 channel.

And don't ever get an amp for its max. power because its pointless. Most listening is done with the amp using 1/3 of its power.Always look for rms wattage and match them up to the speakers.Going over the recommended wattage is not a problem. Its better to overpower to underpower.Distortion is what blows speakers.Remember that.
