Hey everybody,

A while ago I went down to my local audio shop, money in hand, going to get my stock CD player replaced with a Pioneer Premium head unit. The guy took one look at my BOSE Wave radio in the back of my car and told me I would have to replace my whole system - head unit, speakers, etc. , which would involve a lot of work and, consequently, a lot of money. I am just asking if he is right in saying that there is nothing that can be done other than complete overhaul, or if he is just out to get more money. I would prefer not to replace my whole speaker system, because that would be a financial strain I can't bear right now. I can't use the stock head unit because the LED light is out and it skips all the time. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm, well, since Bose speakers use their own amps, i can't imagine you'd need to replace the entire system (and why would you want to, Bose has the best sounding speakers out there! ). I think as long as you have adequate output power (i.e., nominally the same as your current head unit, either with just the Pioneer, which might work, or the Pioneer and an amp), you'll be fine.

 

Nope you dun have to replace the entire system, all u have to do is get an Scosche adapter from Crutchfield which will allow u to install any aftermarket head unit using the factory wires. Crutchfield will know what to priovide u.

 

the reason he told you that was because if you have 2 amps pushing the same speaker one of them is going to fail over time. with the adapter that has a gains on it. this allows the installer to turn down the amps. also he wanted you to pay more money...

 

No you dont have to replace everything. I changed out my deck to a kenwood and everything works fine. There is something you need to do and that is relay some wire behind the head unit. I took my car to an audio store and they did it for me.

 

It will still sound much better if you replace the Bose hose junk.
