I have the touring model fd, and want to take the wing and wiper off the rear hatch. How much do y'all think it would costs to get the holes filled and get the hatch re painted?

The glass has to be pulled because welding the holes will cause the metal to expand and snap the glass. The seal for the rear glass alone is around $200, I believe. If it costs $400-500 to paint a bumper then paint, prep, & labor probably in the $500-600 range. I was adding up in my head a while back and opted to just go with a new Seibon CF hatch that someone had already mounted the glass into (w/ a nice tint job, which I needed!) and opted to not use for less than the cost I was looking at.

Maaco is just a franchise. Some maacos do in fact turn out really good work for the price. and then there's others that def do not care about the work, and it shows. hard to say with maaco jobbers...
As with any paint shop, you should not only ask for pics of their work, but also look at the work that they are currently doing, and jobs that have just been finished up. if the shop is messy and un-organized, walk away. if the shop has any cars that have thick coats of dust on them, or are being used as shelving, RUN away.
If you're at all doubtful, go back to the shop a week or two later, see if they are still working on the same cars. if they have any of the same jobs with not much progress, ask why(maybe the owner's project or something). if it's a customers job, be hesitant to give them any work at all. shops that are clean and regularly turn out good work are the ones to look for. Often dealerships have body shops that can rival both price and finished quality to any other local shop. worth a shot.
Body work estimates vary greatly not only across the country, but even in your own town. just go to a number of body shops and see what they are asking for the job.
(example- a s-10 hood, I was quoted $150, 225, and 600 from 3 seperate places all for the same basic prime and spray. I had already done the body work...)these were all 'pro' shops, but the guy for $225 - his shop looked like a damn trash heap even though he has an ok rep locally.

im getting my hatch done as well , its a private guy and is running me about 375$
the only trouble he said they might have is where the windshield washer fluid comes out at the top , its really close to the glass and said that it would be safer to just fill it , but theres no guarentee . all otehr 9 holes are pretty straight forward
