Autometer Gauge "red" light conversion...
This may be old news, but thought I'd share this info anyway. For those of you have Autometer gauges with the clear light, here's your inexpensive solution to convert them into "red" lit gauges to match your FD red stock instrument panel.
I went to Autozone and bought a set of 194R 'Red" accent bulbs ($2.99) to install in my Autometer Sport Comp fuel pressure and boost gauges. I have mine mounted on a dual a-pillar pod.
Just twist off the bulb holder located in the back of the Gauge and take out the old/stock bulb and insert the new Red bulb. Twist the bulb holder back into the Gauge. Presto. The install took less than one minute and the gauges now match/glow identical to the stock red interior instrumentation. Looks awesome at night!! Hope this info comes in handy.

You know, the Autometer bulbs had that little orange "condom" on, but it really didn't tint the lights to match the instrumentation. They still had the bright, clear glow. The red bulbs I bought at Autozone made the Autometer gauges match the factory FD panel lights perfect with a nice bright red illumination.

Well, if you find a way to "open" the gauge, let me know. I would like to swap or paint the needle to match the stock gauges.

I think it matches well enough, I can barely tell.
To bad I will never buy autometer again, people are right, they are off.

Try changing the bulbs, you won't regret it.

You need to give it a try. I'm sure you'll see the difference. Only $2.99 for a set of two.

Anyone know if the red bulbs would shine brighter than the condomed ones? Because it seems like my gauge is a little too dim to see clearly, and I was wondering if just changing the bulb to a red one would help make it brighter?
