Question Anyone have pics of the RE tailight cover?

I'm trying to see how they'd look on a more "normal" looking FD haha. Anyone got any pics of it??

The only pics I can find are this one:

Thanks

Thanks Gil Wow...I didn't notice that it curved up/out like that in the middle...almost like a trunk lip spoiler. Dunno if it looks so hot anymore...

I think it looks OK if it's part of a kit like on the purple FD in the first pic I posted above. On an otherwise stock car? Nah...

The taillight covers on LT1-7 are NOT RE's they are from some other company(I don't remeber which). You can tell by the way the lip is longer and has more of a curve to them(its more noticable in person) I like them better than the RE ones but I guess they are almost impossible to find.

PURPLE?? :shaking his head: It's getting worse by the minute...lol

I was thinking about it on my car...def. not a stock body. But I thought it simply sat on the lights...no added lip/curvature etc.

But then again...it doesn't look so bad here...

Oh well. I guess I'll pass...cuz when in doubt, leave it out hehe

I think it looks fine on a stock body. Helps with some nice wheels though. NOT MY CAR

Nope, just want to avoid the "hey, what suspension, wheels, exhaust" questions. I am debating between a RE lip or a R1 spoiler.

It's very clean looking, does not distract from the lines/ flow of the car and adds even more character, if you will.

What are you talking about?? You spoke too soon...

If you look closely to the far left of the pic, you can see the huge tires of a trailor/semi...

Looks pretty good on a car with no wing. Well the big wings looks decent with it but not like a R1 wing. Anyone have a pic with the lights illuminated? And doesn't it block the 3rd brake light? That could be illegal.

I have a large wing...but I'm still not sure if it would look good on the car... Plus, while it IS made by RE...I'm curious how it affects aerodynamics...both on a car w/o a wing, and on a car that already has a wing...

As for the 3rd brake light, it def. looks like it blocks it. If you get the fiberglass peice, you can always just cut a hole for it to fit around the center brake light. As for illegal...you're assuming an inspection station realizes you had a center brake light to begin w/... I didn't even know my FD had one until I saw it on another FD! lol (it doesn't light up w/ the dim lights on...it's only when you depress the brake). I say this only because I don't think it's law for cars to have a middle brake light. It may be a new requirement, but obviously older cars that didn't come w/ one are exempt. So if the inspection guy doesn't realize the car originally had one, it's no prob. Same w/ putting in aftermarket steering wheels... if the guy doesn't know your car came w/ an airbag, no prob there either!

You might be able to get away with it, but I don't know. Here in Winchester they check all your lights out but don't do emissions. Maybe its the opposite in Fairfax.

$20 says I have absolutely no prob gettin away w/ it lol. They do check all the lights during inspection, but you see, they only check the lights they SEE lol. Nothing against the mechanics at gas stations, but you give them too much credit. Most of them have never seen an FD up close, and definitely don't know much about them. I had a guy pop the hood, stare at the engine bay for 10 seconds, bewildered, and close it back up, muttering "I dunno what the hell all that is" lol.

So yea, they check lights, brakes, etc stuff like that too. While some places are much more picky and meticulous than others, I'd STILL venture to say even the pickest place would *never* realize there was a brake light under there at one point... Your biggest concern w/ lights is convincing them the tail lights come smoked from the factory lol (oh I had a nice ordeal trying to explain that one!)

Oh and just FYI...as far as I recall, the law requires a VA state inspection, period. It doesn't specify where you get it done. So you can very well go to neighboring counties and get the inspection done there...

Very true about going to surrounding counties if your own gives you a hard time.

You probably can get away with it just fine unless they have a book or something saying all cars after a certain year require such and such lighting.

If anyone in VA needs to pass inspection with full exhaust Frederick doesn't check FYI.

Making a mental note...lol

A lot of places around here won't even do a visual inspection of the emissions system, or even raise the car up if you're only doing safety inspection...but again, that's SOME places. My advice is you scope out the place before you go there...see how thorough they are lol.
