I just go to my dad's friend who puts the sticker on but other people I know, don't get hassled much either. Just never take it to a Pepboys or anything like that.

Rikki used to have one on his car. I thought it was pretty lame. It was really funny watching the tailights burn out one by one until he finally had to get me to remove it for him to replace the bulbs. Youcan't get to the bulbs once its installed. I wouldn't waste any more cash on body parts that dont' improve the cars performance, Thats my two cents worth.

Most body parts don't improve performance. Its all subjective.

The inability to access the lights might be a bitch though.

I think Dave might have been hinting at my car in specific LOL. I've got a few parts here and there just for looks lol (the doors hehe)

I do remember Ryan having it on his FD, but that was like 2 years ago, so I can't remember exactly how it looked. Either way, you're right...it's a nuisance, and prob won't look nice either.

Well, It was ok from the side, but any other angle was not all that great. Not to mention the way it blocks access to the light bulbs was gay. Yes Rami, I was calling you out. You know you need some more go fast goodies. I believe you have plenty of eye candy for now.

Here is a pic of Ryans old car.

Hey Ramy, here's another taillight cover I found that's made by Sexy Style. Thought you might want to have a look.

Thanks Gil. I wanna check out those Mags! lol.

That tail light cover is interesting...maybe even better looking than the RE one. But I think it would only look good on a wingless car...

Oh and I still would wanna know how it affects the car's aerodynamics (both the RE & Sexy one). Cuz I know that when they made the FD, the tail was designed to generate downforce and be very aerodynamically stable, even w/o a wing...

Hey guys

I just saw the original RE tail light cover yesterday on the RE drift car (the light blue one), and it had a large GT spoiler mounted as well. It looked REAL nice IMO, and the cover was actually CF! The only thing I didn't like about it was it dips pretty low in the middle, to the point that it didn't line up w/ the hatch edge in the middle of it. The cover actually dipped lower than the level of the hatch. So there was a slight gap there. The rest of it lined up perfectly though. Too bad I couldn't snap any pics of it...I took a gazillion pics of the actual JGTC cars instead

Is Jay Laub even a member of this forum?

I'd rather have my rebuilt titled, faded, high mile, broken down FD than his car. I have only driven it two dozen times this year and that is about two dozen times more than his car has been driven. Stupid trailer queen B.S.

Yea I know what you mean. And I have no idea if it's a forum member. I don't even know if he's still doing RX7 stuff anymore. I heard he was moving on to NSX's.

Don't get me wrong, I think the NSX is a beautiful car but bang-for-the-buck performance, you might as well **** in your hand.

Pshh...you swear I'm impressed by NSXs. 80 Gs down the drain IMO, unless you just want something very special/rare and handmade lol. I've read several articles where stock FDs pretty much made a mockery of the stock NSX.

Not everyone cares about performance. If I could afford an NSX, I would sell my FD in a heartbeat. It's a different class and level of car. Peformance only goes so far. Class and style are tough to beat on an NSX.

I think your in the wrong site then. I have to admit the NSX is a nice looking car, but the FD is what sets us apart from the other sports cars.

I'm on the wrong site? Did you read what I said? I've owned an FD for 5 years, longer than 3/4 of the people on this site have had a drivers license. As I said, IF I could afford an NSX I would, but since I can't the RX7 is the next best thing IMO.

Not to change the subject of this thread, ditto
(and I think a lot of other FD-owning forum members agree also).

I love me FD to death, I even said that I would want to be burried in it...but like Bricke said, I too, if I could afford an NSx I would have bought that too, but I would still keep my FD.

To each his own I guess. It doesn't float my boat. An acquaintance of mine (who used to work at Autothority, the place that made the 996 Turbo on the Takedemics/Mischief videos) has an NSX, and I mean it's nice, but eh...I wouldn't drop any large wad of dough on it. Now a Skyline R34 GTR, now THAT'S a car I'd drop crucial cash on. And not just cuz it's rare...I think it's incredible in *many* ways, and looks awesome Diff strokes for diff folks I guess. This is coming from the guy who actually WANTS a Supra so...

Back to the subject of the thread...

That light cover is butt ugly. The only time it looks acceptable is when it's not painted body color, because it looks like more like the stock lights. Other than that, heeeellll NO!

I know "to each his own", but I just can't fathom that there are so many FD owners that actually like this obnoxious ricer, all show-no go crap. I don't mind body kits and wings, but so much of this stuff is so tasteless. You don't need a 4 foot wing, or a 6" tail pipe, or so many stickers that you can't tell what color the car is.

I know, I'm going overboard, you just asked about the one item. It just amazes me that you would even cosider installing something so gay... Especailly for $400.

LOL yea I think you went a bit overboard on that one No 4 foot wing or 6" exhaust here. Almost all the parts I run are form + function (minus one or two exceptions). As for the RE tail light cover, initially I didn't like it too much, but it's grown on me over time. And maybe I have too much faith in the aftermarket companies, but I'd think/hope that RE's products are fully functional as well. The edge of the cover sticks out a bit and comes up some, much like a lip spoiler. I'd hope there's *some* aerodynamic issues involved there. But other than that, I just like it lol

I'm curious now, FDNewbie, what performace parts do you have on your FD? I remember seeing it at the Revolution and it had quite a bit of show, but I never got a chance to see under the hood.
