Are any "Fake" kits of good quality?

I really really really like the FEED type 2 front end, and hood and rear wing but the total kit is over $5000!!! Does anyone have any experience with the kits from rotaryextreme, rx7fashion or anywhere else that produces replicas? Can anyone post about their experience and what they thought of quality and fitment of the kits or if there is actualy a reason to spend an extra few thousand dollars for the rea thing

If you go with a fake it just expect it not to fit very well or last very long. With some work you make the kit better. After you test fit the pieces and make any modifications necessary to make the kit fit, go back and add more fiberglass to the backside of the kit. Especially near areas where it bolts to the car. I know it will add more weight, but the problem with fake kits are they don't fit and the vibration from the road usually makes the crack prematurely. I have a fake knight sports front end and side skirts. Front fit was okay, sides where so bad I had to cut them in half and blend them back into the car. I also made and welded a custom bracket to the frame to support the front end from underneath. On the other hand my hood, fenders and rear are originals and fit very well. Just remember the cheaper the kit the more you are going to pay to have it fitted, prepped and paint. If you are not doing the work yourself, it may be cheaper to buy a higher quality kit and spend less on the install.

Thats not even a feed replica, it says it is, but it is a 99 bumper with the licence plate shaved off and a lip attached.

that pretty much sums it up. i have not heard of one single knockoff kit that has fit correctly the first time, without the body shop doing some "extra" work. but i have heard about original body kits fitting perfectly the first time...many times. also, knockoffs look a little bit different than the original. i can honestly tell if kit is knockoff or not when installed on the car 95% of the time.

I have also heard of original parts not fitting worth a **** the first time as well. Case in point the Scoot hood that rotaryextreme got.

Tis true..I've ordered some REAL stuff from Japan and fitment has not been perfect. Really no better than the knock off stuff. Originally I was going to purchase the real FEED front end from RotaryExtreme, but if I can get it in urethane and NOT have to paint a fiberglass version every six months, all the better. Chuck paid over $2K for that hood and it's fit is horrible. I have a Knightsports copy (happy Joe Dirt?) that's fits nearly perfectly, purchased through RotaryExtreme.com.

anyone know of replica or fake fc body kits besides the rotaryextreme one? I cant wait until may for a front bumper thatll cost 500 without the cost of shipping! and the bomex kit is a bit pricey.

1fookntitefd , I got that from www.rotaryextreme.com he posted pictures and unless his car was severely wrecked before or something like tha, the hood doesn't line up for crap, and in fact the hood sticks up past the fender line on one side.

Not always true. I got in the Scoot hood groupbuy and I saw the pics of the original hood which costs $2100, and it is horrible. Even Chuck at RotaryExtreme says it fits like a $200 hood.

There was a thread on this a while back and a lot of people who are in Japan claim that the pieces are not supreme in quality.

My point exactly. LOts of these expensive replicas fit like shitty cheap ones. So why not just buy the cheap one.
