Bodywork experts?

I'm in the process of stripping off the rear passenger quarter and rocker skin and was wondering if anyone knew how much of the quarter is attached to the interior supports.

What I'm seeing is mainly on the support structure behind the door pillar. There wasn't enough damage to the car to warrant welding in a pass side, and I would really just rather reskin the panel. The only thing that really needs to be replaced in terms of structure is the under the rocker, which is technically very simple (all that needs to be done is drilling out the spot welds and welding in new structures). Is replacing the panel skin possible (with one from the parts car, so it has to be able to come off in a relativly useable piece), or should I just weld in a complete rear quarter with understructures?

I have a parts car with the proper pieces either way, but I would rather not mess with welding the car's main structure if I don't have to.

Check out what is now a real expensive mantlepiece from Fiske.

i worked in a bodyshop for over 3 years, i also cut a quarter panel off a 2nd gen coupe and installed it on my convertible, the cut was made under the pillar. if all of the inner supports are good, just install the skin, u will have to cut the skin of the pillar under the roof to blend in the new skin. it is possible to salvage the one off the parts car, hope this helps
