Alpine CDA-9875 Install in S4 Vert
I took the plunge last night after some research and picked up the Alpine CDA-9875 head unit and Ipod cord. I really liked the reviews on this unit for the Ipod connectibility and the fact that there is no need to mount a seperate "box" for the Ipod to be integrated into the system, its simply a cord to the back of the unit.
I also went ahead and picked up a MMME Best (??)) or something or other install kit and wiring harness from Best Buy. When I brought it home however I have found that the directions are less than user friendly. Has anyone used this install kit??
I am going to attempt to install the unit myself over the weekend and have been parusing through searched threads on FC install instructions but I still am at a bit of a loss. There is sooo much info on here about installs but I find a lot of it provides numerous different directions to do the same thing..
What I want is to wire the unit directly to my aftermarket speakers ( I still have the Pioneer double din AE system in there) as well as keep the functionality of my headrest speakers and have a working antena.
Do I use the wiring harness kit I picked up last night for all functions other than the speakers or do I use it at all....guess things will become a little clearer once I get the dash open and the old unit out.
If anyone has any input I would love to hear it.
Thanks

not sure on the verts but you may want to look in the FAQ thread in the 2nd ged section, I know in the TII all the spreakers are self amped and you can re-wire all the speakers or splice RCA ends to the factory speaker wires and plug them into the front and rear RCA plugs on the back of the radio. re-wireing is best but the RCA's will work.
on my radio I just mounted it to the mounts on the factory radio and put a pocket under it.
Im an installer at sound advice and the new Alpine radios with the new IPOD conection is CRAZY its just as fast as your IPOD you can scroll throught playlist, artist ect just like the IPOD, the old one was slow and sucked!
GOOD LUCK I hope this helped

Do not put RCA plugs on the back of speaker wire! The RCA signal is not the same as speaker level signal. I would suggest that you take full advantage of your new Alpine and rewire the speakers. Your new radio's amp is much more powerful then the stock setup.

you really wont notice much difference between the RCA's and the rewire because the stock speakers suck, I didnt notice much diference between them when I did it, but the best and right way is to just re-wire it.

I did this just weeks ago. You have to trim the tabs of the main frame peice included like it shows in the instuctions. Its actually a really good kit and holds my Alpine in place very sturdy. You have to cut the face part to remove the parts that would otherwise hold a radio with 2 *****(exacto knife). Use a pair of the guides to reinforce the plate, its not in the instructions but it helps. Don't cover the bottom section the way they tell you, use the EQ style setup.
