AEM electronics reliability

AEM electronics reliability
How generally robust are AEM products thought to be?
AEM seems in some ways to be the de-facto standard for aftermarket import electronics, but I also seem to hear a lot of stories making their stuff sound like ****. What do you think? What AEM products have you owned and how have they held up?

I know @aplscrambles had mentioned failures with his AEM water/meth injection controller (two failures if I remember right). As I understand that's a fairly popular product and I haven't heard a ton of similar feedback so I'm hoping that's just rotten luck. I bring this up because I just bought one myself but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Here's hoping it holds up

I read the same post a few weeks back, which is one of the reasons prompting me to ask about AEM's reliability reputation. I too have an uninstalled WI injection controller in the garage...
The other reason I am concerned is because of the Amazon reviews for the 500cc/min flow meter:
I was hoping to buy a "failsafe" gauge and pull the PCB out of the gauge part (I don't want the actual gauge and AEM tells me it's the "brains" of the unit), put the PCB into a small project enclosure out of the way, and then hookup the 5v flow output wire and the alarm trigger wire to my ECU for data logging and a boost cut switch... but I kind of don't trust it.

Lots of people have had good luck with AEM's water meth kit/controller. A lot of people have also had strange failures like me, check AEM's user forum. Call AEM's customer service and they have no idea what you are talking about. After 2 AEM failures, bought a Snow Performance vc-50 52mm gauge/controller which freaks out, locks up and fails when your car is parked in direct sun on a summer day. Snow is aware of this problem but offered me no exchange or solution. I bought a new in box coolingmist kit from a forum member recently, going to give it a whirl and see how the controller on it holds up. After that, I suppose Ill just give up on WM injection and just tune my car rich AF in boost lol.

Good luck with the Coolmist kit.
